So, I want to start off by asking you guys for your opinions on my build, and if it is sufficient for streaming. I am kind of on a budget? I think. Not sure yet. Lol, anyways, here is my current build (Looking for opinions before ordering)

I know this isn't really a "budget build" but, it is in a way. Anyways, all I want to know is, will this build be sufficient for streaming starcraft 2 and any other game I should choose to stream on 720p? I have never streamed before, just watched, and that is why I am asking.
Which area should I focus on more? CPU or GPU?
Thanks guys, for all the help that hopefully is sure to come. :D
P.S. I'm open to suggestions and everything! :D Last edit: 2012-08-20 10:59:53 |

| SLI doesn't play too nicely with streaming and AMD CPUs are pretty terrible compared to Intel. I really don't think SLI is worth it, just get a better CPU instead. |

Well, I want SLI because of the performance boost InGame. Is there a way to turn off 1 of the GPU's while streaming if it becomes an issue? |

| I imagine you'll get more performance in SC2 from a better CPU than SLI. |

Build sucks.
SLI is not necessary for Starcraft II, it's a waste of money especially with the FX4100.
Cards don't make use of PCI-E 3.0 yet so it doesn't matter and a core i5 2500k does not have PCI-E 3.0 support anyways. You need Ivybridge for that.
You can easily afford a 2500k. You just decide not to and instead waste money on components that are unnecessary (SLI, enormous case, enormous power supply, large amount of memory, etc.) |

Alright, I'll take that into consideration. Also, if I remove 1 card, that gives me extra money to put towards an i5-2500k. Thank you. |

Lol, I know what you mean. Just so you know though, I didn't buy the case, I got it for my birthday, same with the RAM. As for the power supply, I only got an 850w because as soon as I get a job (after my 16th birthday) I want to upgrade the GPU to the GTX 600 series.
Also, I just realized that Ivy Bridge is relatively the same price as a 2500k, so I could get one I guess. |

You don't have a true quad core, it's more like a dual core with hyperthreading, so using only one "module" for sc2 will have a performance hit over using two discrete modules. AMD's performance per clock cycle is far behind intel's, once you factor in the relative ease of overclocking on an intel system, there is no comparison (Intel will be well over 1.5x higher minimum framerate in sc2, probably at least 2x, as minimum framerates scale weirdly).
- More than 8 gb of ram will not effect streaming. - Case is about 3x the price you should be spending. - 550ti is a crap pricepoint, 460 is faster and cheaper and overclocks better, 6850 is better and similar cost. - SLI in budget cards sucks, you pay more for the powersupply and motherboard, you have a hotter system and waste electricity, which costs way more than a good single card.
Post in the computer build thread and you'll get a way better system for less money, this one is actually painful to look at.
EDIT: ninjaed, and if you've already bought some of the overpriced crap on your list, you should say so we know what we can cut out to make it decent >.<
EDIT 2: A gtx 680 will run fine on a quality ~450-500W unit. The 600 series is very power efficient. Wasting money on a crap motherboard and two crap cards is not a good idea in the meantime anyway.Last edit: 2012-08-20 10:40:30 |

Maybe my build needs some revising then. As for the case, ram, and psu...I cannot complain, as I did not pay for them. Btw, that isnt what was payed for the case. Got it around 100 last December.
If this helps, I can revise it this much
CPU: I5-2500k or i5-3570k
GPU: Radeon HD 6850/70
Mobo: ASRock z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155
and that's really it. Does that make it better to look at? Lol, also that should boost stream performance, no? |

I forgot about that. I should edit the OP. Also, I DO NOT have $400+ for a graphics card alone, being as I am not paying for this. Sorry. |

| That's leagues better for both playing SC2 straight up & for streaming. Also, if you get the 6870, you'll probably have better graphics performance than 550ti sli anyway. |

Sorry, I said that because you said you wanted a 600 series, and the flagship single gpu would run fine on a normal powersupply. I was by no means suggesting you get one for starcraft 2 haha, that would be ridiculous lol
And the changes are much better, I was saying the build is painful to look at because of SLI with cheap cards, bad cards to choose in the first place, bad cpu, ridiculously expensive motherboard, overpriced psu, overpriced case, too much ram etc, so fixing four of those things is good, and what's already done is already done. Just be glad you came here before getting the rest of your stuff :DLast edit: 2012-08-20 10:50:39 |

Hahahaha, Yes, Yes it would be. I know, I want to upgrade to one next year when I have the money. Haha. I also edited the OP and hopefully it is more appealing now.

That revision is way better the original one was hard to look at. Current gen AMD CPU's are pretty garbage and 550ti SLI makes no sense.
PSU is still outlandish, can just run with a 380D or something.
Also why such an over the top case?Last edit: 2012-08-20 10:51:50 |

Listen to this man ^
High power supply wattages are for SLI/Crossfire. No single GPU setup will need so much power. 380D is a great low wattage power supply. |

I am glad. Lol, also, I should note, that I have 16gb of RAM, because I got them when they were on sale for $20 a piece last december. :D So, i payed the the price for 16gb that i would today for 8gb. IMO it is a good investment. |

I *REALLY* like the look of it, and I am superbly happy with its size. It is very large, and makes it look badass. Lol, also, I got it for my birthday last year, and it only cost ~110 bucks or so. :D |
