Hello guys, as the title says my sapphire 7850oc crashes when i am gaming (dayz, dota2 so far). The weird thing is that i get a white screen or some green looking stripes and my computer frozes.
I am looking at forums atm trying to find a solution, i thing it's a driver issue i just downloaded 1.28 catalyst and the latest gpu driver.
My rig: i5 2500k @ 3,6ghz z68 7850oc 1000/1250mhz 2x4gb ddr3 1600mhz 2x120gb agility3 ssd
I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem, cause i am not 100% sure it's my gpu.

| Ooh, I've been looking for other people with this. I have all different parts (i3, z77, 6850, 2x4gb ddr3 1333), but I get crashes often. Do you get a buzzing noise when you crash? |

| Sounds like a dying GPU. Check temperatures while you game (something performance intensive). CPU and GPU. Last edit: 2012-08-20 22:33:31 |

| i had the same problem turned out that the gpu was too heavy and i had to hand-made a support to sustain the weight . |

Temps are alright and the components are fairly new, will check the weight problem. |

Because you don't want to set up the OC once you switch to something Crysis-like . |

| The ideal solution is to never touch VRAM frequency. You'll never get as much performance increase with it as you would changing the core clock. If you're running something with enough GPU horsepower to need better memory performance, which is pretty much limited to high res textures in extreme resolutions, you're probably in the realm of multi-GPU, and if you're paying those kinds of prices, more VRAM is better than changing the clock on it. |

Right.... Crysis 1 came out in 2007 and it up'd the standards due to its new engine. Crysis 2 came out about 4 years later and hardly taxed newer systems of its era. Everything that is out now can hardly put any stress on a nvidia 400 series GPU none the less a 7000 series card from ATI. Your just throwing money away at this point. Also your could potentially be breaking warranties you have on those items as well with your OC. If you want to waste it with hardware you won't fully utilize until new technologies get developed then go for it. There isn't a graphics engine/Direct X breakthrough that is going to rock the gamer world for some time. Better off reinvesting that money elsewhere, atleast then you would get some return on your investment. |

I said Crysis-like not "Crysis" nor "Crysis 2".
If i want to use some heavy Anti-Aliasing or even Down-Sampling an high end Graphics Card with a nice bit of OC is the way to go, if you don't believe in the "value" of Downsampling simply watch some comparison Screenshots, the benefit is minor yet is is there and people are willing to give money to achieve the minor.
You don't NEED the highest of end Cards yet you can actually use them.
And with the Resolutions you use in 3-Monitor Surround Gaming you just need some kind of crazy power!Last edit: 2012-08-29 13:23:37 |
