After the tragedy of my house being struck by lightning, my two computers no longer function. This requires me to begin the arduous task of selecting a new laptop (And eventually a desktop).
I have spent a brief period browsing laptops on my phone, but I simply cannot do it quickly enough. I feel like one of you who actually has a computer to use can find a good deal much quicker.
My requirements are that it be priced under $400, have good processor, 4 GB+ ram, and a 15+ inch screen, preferably 17 inch. I would also like to be able to watch HD movies on it, as I often plug my laptop into my TV to watch streams and netflix.
Please post any and all good deals you can find
Thank you very much for your time, I realize you could be watching a stream or playing starcraft 2. It means a lot to me that people here are always willing to help.

| Yeah you don't really have many choices. Pick your favorite brand, and look for an i3-2xxxm at under 400$ and that will have everything you need. |

| Any basic homeowners/renters insurance policy should cover your damages.... assuming you live in the United States. Did you report them in your claim? Typically it's done on a replacement cost basis too, meaning the price you paid for the computer, without any depreciation taken into account. |

I actually work for State Farm insurance and have already done the necessary things. I do not think I will get full replacement cost for the computers. Thank you though.
And thanks to all others who have helped. I think I've settled on this: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/766669/HP-g6-1d73us-Laptop-Computer-With/. Its more or less the same as the $400 ones, but its only $350. Also has the best i3 I've found for the price. |
