Why isn't Westrice playing?

Dig vs Crs finals with LgN as dark horse IMO. Really hoping Dig win.

No idea. I just copied the lineup from the MLG site. It also looks like qtpie might not be there for Dignitas.

My picks for top 4 would be mMe Ferus (ex-mTw), Dignitas, Curse/Dynamic. It really depends on which teams get put together in the 2 double elim brackets.

So why no TSM and CLG? Are they busy with something else?

In any case devastating for MLG.

I dont get that one at all. Then why not play a generic strat instead, or something they know they will not play later? Could even be used to deceive opponents.

I would think that's just one of a few reasons. We all know that they're already qualified for the finals so in that respect, there's no reason for them to go.

Aside from that, I imagine organising travel and the actual tournament would take a lot of time and money (denting the winnings) and they'd probably rather take the five~ days of practice and a free look at other teams over that from a practice point of view. After their loss to Blaze, they know they need to improve to compete for first place. With all the investment in the $2,000,000 finals, this probably makes the most sense to them. I mean you could probably think up other reasons - being able to watch every game as a group could teach them things and so on.

From a spectator point of view it's quite interesting. While it's always a shame to not see the best teams at events (Team X isn't that good, CLG & TSM weren't there), this really opens it up for other teams to show what they're made of and get a shot at some cash, fame and confidence that they might not otherwise get. We might see some new faces, unusual strats or weird picks/bans.

It's also odd to see so many subs in. This is the most important tournament for a bunch of these teams, there must be a very good reason for why they can't go.

I believe TSM, CLG, Dignitas, Curse, and EVO have secured spots at PAX. TSM and CLG's positions are set already no matter the outcome at Raleigh so they didn't need to show up unless they felt like messing with the teams trying to earn some points. Dig, Curse, and EVO are just playing for seeding. The other 9 teams are essentially fighting it out for 3 spots.

Oh, thanks for this. Just realized it was today. Although pretty confused on why there's no brackets yet from MLG.

Aw, and it's not wildturtle subbing for Legion either... :< WildTurtle was the best sub ever since Locicero subbed for Dignitas @ IPL3. (xHazzard gets an honorable mention)

Hm. I think xHazzard impressed me more since teams started target banning him and taking him as a serious threat. WildTurtle made some good plays but things like his really odd Ryze Build means I can't put him above xHazzard.

Although if we're talking about all time great subs, Salce subbing for CLG at IEM gets a nod too. Voyboy for CLG at MLG last year counts too.

Now that I think about it, CLG always does well when they have a sub.... New secret CLG Plan for NA Regionals: Last minute subs! :D

CLG Black are my dark horse team for this tournament, they've been doing really well online in the last 2 weeks and Wild Turtle (their sub for Link) should be pretty confident after finishing 3rd at Face-off with Legion.

I don't think Hazzard will do well now with people knowing Malphite is op and got nerfed. Hazzard just had a secret OP hero that he was taught by Voy.

I'm really interested by who Dig's sub will be.
@ShakeDrizzle. I love you all.

Bracket found on Twitter... because MLG is that on top of it.

At the same time though, even if CLG.na fall to 3rd seed they still avoid Dignitas/TSM until the Semis. The contest for Seeds 5th-8th are all pretty competitive so it's hard to say whether the 8th seed will really be "easier" than the 5th seed.

Well, 1 2 are guaranteed to be on the opposite sides, yield a slightly better draw than 1 3 imo.

3rd Seed is in same side of the Bracket as 2nd Seed. So CLG.na and Dignitas are on the same side no matter what. 4th seed is in the same side as TSM.
