I find this a bit funny and interesting at the same time. I was searching the school journal resources earlier for something on safe sex practices and then I stumbled upon this recent study from SUNY-Albany, published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior. The paper is available in Sprinerlink. You can access this through your school account, or if your school isn't subscribed, you can refer to this report in MedicalDaily.
Their conclusion is that (I'm chuckling while writing this) sperm is good for women, and not only for its reproductive qualities or its protein content.
Performing oral sex or having sex without a condom may benefit both mental and physical health in women, according to scientists who analyzed the effects of semen's "mood-altering chemicals."Semen is known to contain such "mood-altering chemicals" as estrone and oxytocin, which elevate mood; cortisol, which promotes affection; serotonin, which acts as an antidepressant; and melatonin, which induces sleep. Of all their findings, perhaps the most interesting was the discovery that sexually active women who usually or always used condoms were on par in their unhappiness with women who abstained from sex altogether.

They know they get more publicity from a gimmicky research that will yield provocative headlines than they would from writing about anything else.
