Tournament is now in progress registering!! Find your region below! If you actually competed in a previous event, you may not sign up for this one as you are competing at a higher tier in the league already.
Welcome, to the Semi-Pro Gaming League!
BTW, entry is FREE.
Rules No Pro players that make a living off salary or streaming allowed. B-team and below players are exempt from this rule. The rules found here are in the process of being updated. Mind the rules on the Z33k tournament page. The map selection process has changed. YOU are responsible for setting up a match with your opponent and reporting results. RULES
This Tournament's Format This event has a 32 man "Swiss Style" tournament that starts on September 1st and continues throughout the month of September. The top 8 players from each region will compete advance to the Main tier and compete in November to continue advancing up ranks. That is invite only status. Exceptions will be made for low population areas to fill the proper brackets.
Swiss Style Tournament Structure The Swiss style tournaments are very similar to round-robin where every player would eventually play each other once. However, in Swiss tournaments, players with better records will compete against players with a similar record. There will also be no repeat of matches, so there is some leniency when it comes to the matches and win-loss record, but over all the better players come out on top and those needing work filter down. ex: 8 players over 4 rounds + Show Spoiler +Round 1 p1 v p5 p2 v p6 p3 v p7 p4 v p8 player 1 1-0 player 2 1-0 player 3 1-0 player 4 1-0 player 5 0-1 player 6 0-1 player 7 0-1 player 8 0-1

About the SPGL The SPGL is an organization dedicated to building the middle steps of eSports: that vital area between ladder hero and pro player. Based on 8 distinct regions in ALL of North America, players can compete in various scheduled events to work their way up the competitive tiers up into a national finals. Better rankings carry over to each season where you can advance up, or drop down in ranking.
League Structure The SPGL has three different tiers for competitive play: *Open - which is just what it says and is the lowest tier *Main - This is the main tier and is the first instance of invite only. It is also the only tier where you can lose invite status *Premier - This is the top tier and the only one you can win prize money in. Each of the 8 regions in North America represented in the SPGL have ways of advancing up and down to the next corresponding tier. Seasons last 3 months, and rank in tier carries over from one season to the next. The SPGL also utilizes several different types of gameplay: double elimination, Swiss, and round-robin. These styles are utilized to judge a players skill over time, as opposed to just who is HOT one day, and cold the next.

No, there are 3 levels to the SPGL - Premier, Main, Open (top to bottom) Premier and nationals are same level, so you are all set until next season. Main is a tournament that went on this month and is the middle tier that feeds into Premier. Open feeds into Main.
So short answer, no. You are in the top tier and are all set until October. If you were in the bottom 8 of Premier, you would be getting a PM soon inviting you to your "up/down" or progression match. |

You have to read the whole thing. I have in big letters at the top that
The tournament start time = end of registration
Same issue occurred last event so I made sure it was noticeable this time. Also do note the tournament length and how matches are setup. |

With MLG weekend closing up and more major events happening all the time, I have to ask, what are you doing to get better? The SPGL offers a great opportunity for a long term league that will help get you in contact with better players to help improve your own game and maybe even get you sponsored.
So get off your asses and get your game on! (I'm talking to you Canada, Southwest US and Southeast US) |

| Hi, do we sign up for the location which we reside in currently? Or our hometown. I'm currently in Pennsylvania which would be East, but I'm heading off to uni soon in Mass. which would be Northeast |

Sign up for East. College players register in their state of residence, not college location |

The matches are up for the Open Tier event. Just click on the “standings” link to find your opponent. I have removed players that are already involved in the higher tiers of the league.
This is the last Swiss event and your results here will translate to season 2. Many changes are coming. So kick some ass! |
