Well, easy, compared to this guy:
http://www.buzzfeed.com/reyhan/tech-confessional-the-googler-who-looks-at-the-wo
...this former Google worker described a year spent immersed in some of the darkest content available on the Internet. His role at the tech company mainly consisted of reviewing things like bestiality, necrophilia, body mutilations (gore, shock, beheadings, suicides), explicit fetishes (like diaper porn) and child pornography found across all Google products — an experience that he found “scarring.”...
So apparently Google (and I guess other internet portals) have people who scrub their social networks 24/7 for bad content. What happens to these online janitors?
In the case of the interviewee, he needed therapy by the end of his 9 month stint... except Google never gave him therapy and never gave him a full time offer.
Kind of blows imo, but big G is a private company so they can do whatever they want.
That being said, this is kind of an interesting question:
The sort of scarring content he is talking about is also stuff that parts of the population find very enjoyable. But for the vast majority of us, it's not. How do you actually deal with this when you're running a content portal? How strict or loose should you be?
And how do you provide your employees the equivalent of brain bleach afterwards? |

They are a search engine on the internet they are viewing this content with the intent to get rid of it form there engine so I think it is alright. |

| never thought of the "online janitors" before... i mean ofc there has to be SOMEONE doing SOMETHING about the child porn and all this other stupid shit on the internet, i just never thought about it... that would be pretty sick doing that as a job, i can hardly stand like dogs getting abused on the internet, let alone all this other shit he has to deal with. He definitely needs therapy of some sort >_< |

They actually have unpaid, anonymous positions called janitors who do, in fact, do this for free. Last edit: 2012-08-25 10:48:37 |

| Shouldn't they hire someone who's a little bit more resistant to this kind of stuff to do the job? |

| They should have interviewed the guy beforehand, he was clearly not psychologically cut for the job.And Google should definitely offered up some type of compensation for this kind of incident. |

I thought this was going to be an attack on the mods again, lol
That said, Google has a responsibility to treat him well, shame on whoever had control over that situation |

The problem is you don't want people who get off on this shit working for you. It's a fine line between resistance and enjoying it. |

Well, they aren't like voyeurs or anything. 4chan gets a really bad wrap all the time because this kinda stuff happens there, but it's not like it's generally supported. Janitors are supposed to remove the content. |

You can still find people who are immune to being disturbed by images like that while still being dedicated to removing it. |

| This is just like... Wow. Why would they even screen this? why wouldn't they just wait till someone searched it and THEN used that to screen it. Like any site that proports to have child pornography just gets cut instead of sending people out to find these websites. |

FBI is probably pretty happy that they are doing this. It wouldn't surprise me if they share alot of this information. |
