Update: Grubby will cast OSL with Moletrap from September 4th to 18th

Hey guys,

I'm surprised there isn't a thread for this already. Recently, many people are flaming on Moletrap for his poor casting, and it seems like OGN is looking for more SC2 casters.

At the end of OSL Day 1, the Broadcaster of the English stream mentioned that they are currently talking to Grubby and Doa to cast for OGN. I personally find to be great news- Grubby is one of by favorite players, and his ability to analyze and predict the game has been impressive for every cast he does.

Although there is no official article or announcement about Grubby negotiating with OGN, I hope the it turns out okay. I personally feel that the addition of Grubby would encourage more people to watch Proleague and OSL, as I already know quite a few people who refused to watch the OSL just because Moletrap is casting.

Here's the picture. Props to Xarles for screenshot.

I just hope casting 2+ days a week won't slow him down as he has really established himself as one of the foreigners who can take maps/series of koreans. But living in korea should only benefit his practice anyways.
So as long as he doesn't go full time caster I'd love to see him at ogn.
Terran kids think stutterstepping and medivacdrops are difficult skills, so everything that can't stutterstep is "A move race". Pretty funny

Grubby's casting is damn amazing and I love it over most others but Grubby is really starting to get more and more successful as a player in sc2 now so I don't know how much I'd like it if he focused more on casting. I'd love it if it'd draw more viewers to the OSL though.

If it's just 2 casts each week and he doesn't have to focus too much on other things and can still mainly play then I'd love to see him do it.

Grubby would be perfect! Though Moletrap will just talk over him too.

While it's only speculation and all, I'd be excited if Grubby goes for it. He's my favorite player-caster ever since I saw him casting in HSC.

I have no problem with Moletrap. Better than Khaldor, IMO. Is Grubby going to give up his career as a player? Otherwise, it won't be a wise move to be a full-time caster.

Not quite so sure how I feel about this. On the one hand Grubby's casting is amazing, it is entertaining and full of rich, deep analysis. But on the other hand, he is really improving as a player and is beginning to take games off Korean's quite regularly. As long as he isn't casting every game, I think it would be fine as living in Korea would really benefit him.

Grubby is a player first, caster second, afaik. He won't take it if it infringes too much on his practice time.

If he could somehow connect being in Korea - casting OSL and being in Korea as a player it would be the best for him, career wise. I dont really believe that he will ever make as big of an impact on SC2 as he did in WC3 so imho putting all eggs into this basket is not the best.

Well juggling between playing and casting can be difficult, however no matter Grubby's decision, I will support him.

btw Moletrap is a decent caster I think he did a fine job. Personally I find it hard to believe that people refuse to watch a tournament just because they don't enjoy the commentating. Also afaik OSL has korean casters too so it's all good. All in all, I think that a true Starcraft enthusiast is here to watch games, regardless of the casting quality.

Yes im also kind of angry on people who didnt even pay attention at Moletrap at this OSL cast, he did much, much better job than in any of his SC2 casts. His voice was not squeeky, he tried to be calm, i would say its far from his peak when he was casting with Klazart/Digg but its for sure way better than he ever did in last 1-2 years.

I would support this a hundred times over. Living in Korea would likely be good for his play as well, and the casting shouldn't really cut down on casting terribly much.

I don't know if I can see this as a good thing myself. I love Grubby's casting, but as evident from all those behind the scene GOM videos, there's a lot more to casting then just showing up for a x amount of hours and talking.

I think when HOTS comes out and everyone is back to equal footing, he can turn that potential into better results.

Grubby is an excellent caster. If paired with Moletrap though....

I would personally kayak to korea if the reward was having Grubby cast OSL. I support this.
