As emotionally invested as people are on this topic, TL rules still apply. That includes flaming and ad hominem attacks. | Torte de Lini Canada. August 30 2012 04:31. Posts 27325 | Profile Blog # |
Today is a very sad day for ROOT Gaming. Steven Bonell II also known as Destiny and ROOT will part ways. This is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do while being the leader of ROOT Gaming, but management (myself included) decided it is for the greater good of the team in the long run.
Destiny isn't being released because we think he is a racist, or because we think any of the things that haters make him out to be are true. In my opinion, Destiny is a genuine, outspoken and sincere person, a very good friend; one of my best friends, and I have a lot of respect for him in every regard. We don't agree on everything, but he is one of the first people I would go to if I needed advice on any grounds.
ROOT is a team based on friendship, and we honestly hate to go against this for the first time, but at the same time for what we believe is the greater good for everyone else in the team in the long run.
In the last incident that Steven was involved in not long ago, our sponsors received a lot of negative feedback through e-mail about the whole situation, when it comes to Steven, we know that this isn't the first or the last time this will happen. The Chatlog wasn't pretty and it brought us a lot of negative publicity. It also, obviously, doesn’t reflect the opinions of our entire team and even though I believe it’s just silly talk between friends and it should be a private matter, we can't remotely agree or celebrate some of the things said in it, for this reason, TT1 and Fayth are receiving a warning and will be suspended from participating in clanwars and internal team activities for a month or more.
As a team that is trying to grow and become a respectable organization in a growing industry; a team that was created and is ran by professional gamers, situations like this hurt us and our future chances of success. Our current sponsors were very understanding of the situation and for that I thank them. But that is not to say doors won't close in the future because of previous incidents. If you've ever worked in a restaurant, say, as a waiter, you will know how much bigger of a deal it is to have negative feedback and someone telling the manager or writing a letter to the ownership of the restaurant about you being a crappy waiter than to have someone commend you on how great you are doing.
We release Steven today because there are 25+ people working hard every day to make ROOT grow and we don't want their efforts to be in vain. We release Destiny today because as selfish as it may sound, I'd rather release Steven today than disband our team tomorrow due to lack of financial support.
Steven remains a close friend of mine and everyone on the team, we will always continue to ROOT for him and his success in every regard. But he is no longer, officially a part of ROOT. I want to apologize to the many fans who will not like this decision and I just hope you can at least, like Steven, understand it.

Despite being amongst the original members of ROOT Gaming back in early 2011, Destiny has been let from ROOT Gaming for the good of their organization and future endeavours. This distancing largely has to do with surrounding drama during the MLG weekend involving private conversations with fellow teammates TT1 and Fayth as well as private photos of Steven Bonnell II leaked from his hacked Twitter and Facebook accounts.
ROOT Gaming founder and head captain, Paulo ‘Catz’ Vizcarra and management have given their statement above.
Not all is lost for Steven, as he writes on his website about his future interest and plans to go to the Ministry of Win in Poland and come out with some solid victories.: “I’ll be focusing hardcore on SC2 in Poland, I should be turning some results after I leave there.”
With time, we just may see Destiny come out as more than just an entertainer, though the trip hopefully will also have a hint of entertainment for the fans.

I never feigned ignorance, just didn't want to get into it right before an MLG. I can't imagine how you can think that people will never, ever, ever talk about anything personal or private amongst their friends. Maybe I'm just stupid, but I can't see myself caring at all if you shared pictures between your close friends, especially given the fact that I'd never see any of them in real life. Glad you think you have a right to every single private conversation I ever have, though. Posting pictures of my dick to 37k people + cutting me off from access to my e-mail/twitter is probably reasonable payback for me discussing something personal with two friends. Thanks for the new work location, I wonder what your boss will think of this. Or your dean, for that matter. I wonder if it'd affect your scholarship or financial aid?
Holy shit this guy has a fucking nasty personality. What the hell man. Don't do that if you want to be known as being better than that.
Also evidently the girl was 15. Im guessing thats part of the comment. So basically Destiny got caught circulating underaged photo's which is a bigtime federal fuck-me-in-the-ass crime. Different girl, thank god we didn't need that on SC2's head.
More + Show Spoiler +This is the skype conversation linked. It sort of clarifies whats going on. finally, it catches up to destiny. for too long he has acted holier than thou, imparting his "wisdom" on the rest of us while leading a life where he follows none of his own advice.
i was a fan, destiny, but it became harder and harder to ignore that instead of an interesting personality you are a mean egomaniac. hopefully this acts as a wake up call and will serve to provide you some space to get your shit together.Last edit: 2012-08-30 04:35:45 |

Despite people's views on Steven, he is probably one of the most honest and pursuing people I’ve helped or worked with in the past. On previous teams, what he received did not outweigh how much he put in, gave to fellow teammates and overall willing to pursue in terms of his career as well as his ability (not to mention his following s bolstered a lot of marketable numbers for teams). He was cooperative, active, talkative and open-minded towards other people and not remotely condescending or rude. He was a likeable character one-on-one and completely comfortable and willing to bend his time to fit team matters and matches.
He may not get the achievements everyone holds high standards for, but he had the attitude and cooperative nature to make him so easy to work with and that goes a long way, at least from my experiences and work (as little as it may be).
Very unfortunate to see Root-Gaming let him go.Last edit: 2012-08-30 04:35:00 |

| I understand that suspending TT1 is a necessary punishment over what happened but I must wonder the strength of root in clan wars without him. Seems like major and masa will have much more work on their backs without TT1. |

He showed nude pictures of a girl to a couple guys (TT1 and Fayth included) while also making fun of her looks. The conversation got leaked to her she got offended, "hacked" his twitter and posted a picture of his member.Last edit: 2012-08-30 04:38:32 |

All the "let's e-mail sponsors to legitimize esports" people are ridiculous.
The "politically correct" shit is so unnecessarily overdone. And often done more than not by hypocrites. All I've seen are a bunch of kids that run to sponsors and whine everytime something supposedly offensive is said.
EDIT: Although apparently this particular case had an interersting, mildly amusing turn of events. I'm guessing it was mostly complaints by people from the U.S. since we're so unnecessarily sensitive to nudity here.Last edit: 2012-08-30 04:41:35 |
