Hey TL, I am a 1300 point master league player, and I am not sure how to defend this build. I've played against it about 7 times in a row (In my TvTs) and I can't stop it even when I know its coming.
I always open 1Rax FE, into 2 additional barracks, get stim etc etc. The standard TVT opener. I always have a bunker at my natural, so it kind of forces them to drop into the main. The part the I don't understand is what am I suppose to do when the drop is incoming?
I would think that missile turrets would be kind of useless, since the surface area around most bases on most maps is too large. If I spread my marines, they can kill them from the low ground with ease. I've tried using bunkers inside my base, but doesn't really help.
Any advice would be helpful. Thanks TL

Like you said, you'll usually know when it's incoming. You simply rally all your raxes to where he will most likely drop, leaving only 4 marines in your bunker on the lowground and possibly 3-4 scvs pulled on autorepair in case he tries to bust it instead for whatever reason (I've had it happen). Your units on the high ground should be enough. Oh, and you're not supposed to get stim first, you're supposed to get combat shields first. Combat shields finishes JUST in time.

hi, i think there are a few important things to hold it off. First you need to snipe the medivac. Even if your opponent starts loading out units at your high ground, you still need to snipe it. Also always engage in a great arc so you don't get insta killed by the hellions. if he gets near your mineral line pull some svc's and block the hellions, you dont need many to do that, just like 3-4, so the hellions can't kite anymore.
I also always go for a bunker in the front in TvT all the time. Its not always neccessary but you don't really need the 100 minerals in a 1 rax build anyway, and its really helpful if your opponent just decides to run up your natural ramp in case he doesn't manage to drop. I also usually start a depot wall in the front if i know this build is coming so hellions can't drive into your natural while you're dealing with marines in your base.
If the opponent executes the build very well you'll probably lose some scv's, but thats okay because you will still have an eco advantage.
I'm also not a fan of the 2 rax build you talk of , i assume you get an early tech lab and reactor like the "thorzain build" does, but i don't think its that good on the ladder, cause you will lack marines when the push hits. I usually go for a normal 3 rax build which kinda ends up the same but you'll have more marines around the 6-8 minute mark.

I was playing this out with a 1700 terran yesterday. There's 3 ways to execute this. Gas first, 12rax/13gas, and a proxy port version of both. So far the way I beat it is following this checklist:
1. When you scout gas first or 12rax/13gas, scan at 5:30 with your first scan on the 2nd OC 2. If you can see an reactor hellion medivac drop coming your way (which is pretty easy), do the following: a. pull all marines you have out on the map back into your base b. build a single bunker at the front and leave 2 marines and an autorepair scv only c. make sure your stim building rax is the farthest from cliff (you should do this every game regardless) d. rally your production or marines and a marauder at cliff and hit patrol, don't make reactors if its a gas first e. try and wall off hellion runbys with depots and rax (you should do this every game regardless) f. pull 2 guys off each gas for a total of 1 guy on each gas 3. You should float your CC back, preferably to a place where it creates good simcity. This means you shouldn't build new depots or whatever at your nat until you are sure its an expo play 4. Bunker and wall off your ramp and bunker your cliff. You will have extra minerals. 5. Don't start +1, use your gas for factory. Factory is very important as you need a port to get a clean counterattack should you defend, and you can get a sensor tower in your main. 6. Put guys back on gas after 2 waves of aggression.
Actual engagement: 1. Pull 80% of SCVs and have them in front of marines, prespread carefully. 1.5. Make sure ALL your SCVs are repaired fully before engagement. Initial scouting SCV harass will make your SCVs 3 shottable by hellions instead of 4 shot. 2. Marines focus fire hellions first, then marines, then whatever SCV they bring. Focus medivac if they fly it too far haphazardly (risky). 3. SCVs try and go for surround. 4. Try and let SCV dies instead of marine. You can win with 5 SCVs left and 2 mules if they also brought SCVs.
