I have plenty of Asian friends who experience the same situation.
it seems you have to either be a doctor or a lawyer to satisfy parents. it's the mentality of alot of Asian parents.. to be successful in life, you need good grades, and a bunch of titles behind your name.
alot of Caucasian parents show their support by saying: Follow your heart, do what makes you happy
alot of Asian parents: Do this, don't do that, and you'll be successful.
Although it may be true that Asian parents may be more strict in general, your ideas about "Caucasian parents" sound like they came from sitcoms and Disney movies. Could not be further from the truth. |
