I cant start to tell you how much time ive put into dota 1, even got a pal into it!
Its a great game because it based on what was one of the first games of the MOBA style that really broke through, more interesting it was simply a WC3 mod, nobody guessed what it would become.
Id love a key to become a great dota 2 player, and beat snotty teenagers back to theyr COD <3 thanks! |

Dota 2 is incredible (and generally, 5on5 strategy-style games of all kinds) because it encourages the team-based "sport" side of the term eSports moreso than really any other game that is out there right now. As incredible of a game Starcraft II can be, you don't have those intense moments of teamwork and nail-bitingly close moments that you'd see in a traditional small-squad sport like hockey or basketball. When you win, you celebrate with four other people (close friends in the competitive scene) in a collective feeling of indescribable joy. When you lose, you split the sorrow like a sad pie of defeat.
And the plays, oh the PLAYS! I was watching the International with my girlfriend who knows nothing about Dota, and she'd constantly walk by and stop and watch for a moment or two and go "Wow, that was insane!". You can watch a close game of SC2 and get the chills when your favorite player pulls out an epic win, but with Dota, you can watch anyone at all pull out a slim escape or an epic chase kill and you'll get your nerd chill fix.
I love this game. |

The most awesome moment of Dota was undoubtedly the one when Merlini did a triple kill with Zeus solo vs trilane . I guess that is one of the reasons Zeus sometimes is called Merlini :D |

I would like to get beta keys for Dota 2, not for me, cause i allready got one... but for my friends that need one to play with us.
I love this game because it's made to be played with your friends, it need high level of communication and understanding between the teams.
My favourite moment is when we do lan parties in my home (dota 1) and we had 4 teams (5 each), when you got ganked you could hear the others yelling at you from the other room.
That is why i want the beta keys. So i can invite my other friends to dota 2, and continue playing together.
Thanks JP |

Congrats on your 10th anniversary!
I didn't play DotA and only got into DotA 2 by checking out Tobi's Stream that was listed here on TL. The game got me curious really fast with its incredible strategical depth. I've played some LoL but got bored relatively fast. Although it's a nice game, in comparison to what I've seen from DotA 2 it feels a little stale and most games play out similarly. Also the LoL-community sucks to be honest.
Would be awesomesauce to try DotA 2! |

| I started playing dota when i was 15 (i'm 20 now). By that time i played anything in battle.net but dota (footmen, orcs vs humans, TD, custom hero, enfos, hero siege, etc. etc.) Later i came to play only dota and just dota. I always thought of a remake and my begs were heard xD But its been months since i fill the signup, i also participated in contests but nothing.. most of my friends can play also. I had lots of epic moments in dota but i would like to mention de most funny of them all. I was playing as pudge that time and there was a techies in the other team. I just hooked one of muy allies (who was actually a friend of mine) and in the way he exploded on a lot of mines! couldnt stop laughing xD I love dota, it's not a game but a passion to me, if you could give me a key, i would be infite grateful, sorry if that was too long and sorry for any errors (i'm not a native english speaker) thank you for reading =) Last edit: 2012-09-25 04:03:10 |

| DotA is a very addictive and fun game. Ever since it came out on WC3, it has gained an enormous amount of popularity. It is so popular that many companies have created games that follow the same gameplay used in DotA; some of these copies include LoL and HoN. Unsurprisingly, none of these copies live up to the original. When I first played DotA some years ago, I admit that it was hard to grasp the game due to the numerous characters and items, but the more i played, the better I got, and soon I was playing the game every day for hours. The skill combinations and teamwork make it a beautiful game. The greatest moments I experience are when my team throw out a perfect combination of skills to desrtoy the enemy team and win us the game. |

Happy Birthday!
Hi, I started playing dota 3 years ago. Some of my friends recommended it but i never wanted to play cause i never used to play RTS games. One night they gave the warcraft cd, frozen throne, patches and ... dota. I started playing without any motivation really. Was playing as lina. Alright, the game finishes... and I was eager to play another game xD Really regret how many games i missed cause of my big head xD but in the end ive become a truly fanatic of this game, besides i met a lot of people who i can consider my friends, and also teach me the importance of the team work (not only for a game, i mean). I'm dying to play dota 2, my best friend is playing right now but he didn't get the extra key =( and i've wait almost a year. Thanks in advance and happy birthday again!
Favourite moment: playing as magina with my friend as tiny. I blinked to the little mountain in the river in bot (where the rune appears). A sniper came by, tiny tossed him to me, I blinked to the ground and the little dwarf was trapped there xD I know this is a stupid situation but was really really fun, and now that sniper player is one of my best friends =) |

good luck for next 10 years ;D
I started playing Dota in 2003 until 2007. This time was realy awsome i met so many ppl and every single game was so much fun talking to ppl all around the world and stuff like that. Infact the chat often was more interesting then the game but i think the probably best time in dota was when the luna moon glaive was stacking each hit with livesteal items like helm of the dominator :D. There never was or will be a more epic thing in this freakn game. Big livesteal Luna is BIG!
so my probably funniest moment with dota was when Luna with only power treads and helm of dominator rans into Lich+Bloodseeker and Earthshaker do do the tripple kill for the win :DDDD |

Let me paint you this picture: Top lane Dire side with me as Leshrac and a fairly new friend playing as Sand King. We have always had games together and also shared lanes. But this game was different. "Hey lets try to do a combo thing with heros," he said and I complied. At our levels, I knew this would work out because of luck or that it would go wrong and we would fail horribly and lose the lane. The goal was to combo stuns where Sand King would start his Burrowstrike first then followed by Leshrac's Split Earth. We combo-ed and got first blood. Then again with another kill, and again. Through Mumble, if I were to listen back on our conversation, there were less jokes and fun banter, but instead, in its place, were well orchestrated, fluid, and encouraging messages engaging and validating each other's strategy and teamwork. There was excitement and joy! Granted that a double stun lane is already one that favors us; the experience was definitely a memorable one. This is why DOTA works, why it exists as the best MOBA, and why players endure the learning curve and countless insults to get better at this game. Whether it was a real GG worthy game or a big stinker of a loss, its the experiences that I have learned to value as a DOTA2 player and I am glad to share it with another.

Hey I've been playing dota for a very long time... i dont know the exact number of years but it must be at least 5 since i remember crazy stuff like Stealth Asassin with invis on lvl 5 and Death Ward ulti making those nostalgic memories my favourite moment! (good old times.) I never was very ambitous but i realy developed a great love for the game throughout the years and now it is one of the things that helps me keeping contact with my old school friends, whom I started to play with.
Now i got my hands on a Dota 2 Key quite early , but my little brother ,who realy charishes the game as much as I do, is still trying to get his hands on one! And since it is my duty to keep him on the right path, I beg you to help me to do so.
Ps: He has been a member of your community for some years. His ID is Kleinmuuhg |

So to start, this is my first post on the site, but I have been poking around in the sc2 section for awhile. Also, I have never played Dota, or any MOBA for that matter. I'm entering this, because this year I got a host brother from China! His name is Charley, and he is absolutely in love with Dota. He plays on my desktop all the time, and (in my opinion) is a good player, even though I'm not really sure what a good player is. He gets a lot of kills, that means he's good right? Anyway, he's been here for about a month, and I think he's really enjoying it here, despite it being a lot different. He's doing well in school, and all, but I think he really misses home a lot. He chats his friends at home all the time, and keeps me up at night because he is on Skype until the a.m.. He's a smiley guy, but I think he's a little sad. I'd like for him to get a Dota 2 key, because I think it'd really be good for him and maybe it will cheer him up a bit, I'm posting a picture of us two together below, so you don't think I'm making stuff up. + Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/1dJRF.jpg) Guess who's who? Anyway, thanks TL! Happy 10th!Last edit: 2012-09-25 07:43:53 |

About two years ago I was traveling around in Asia with two of my friends. We had been traveling for about 2 months and hadn't used a computer for anything more advanced than mailing and Skype. Now we found ourselves in Phnom Phen, the capitol of Cambodia, and one of the rougher pars of it too. We lived at this motel that were like 2$ a night. and we didn't really know what to do in Phnom Phen. This story might feel like it's heading in a kinda obvious direction (with the topic known and all).
But anyways, for us we had just started to really miss some of the more comfortable things from home, and western life. And we suddenly all felt an urge to play some computergames. So we asked around if anybody knew if there were anywhere we could play, and no one seemed to even understand what we meant. After a while we got hold of a tuc-tuc driver who said he'd take us to a "gamehouse", we got really exited but it also seemed like if it was something illegal we were going to. But we thought well maybe it's not legal with computer cafes or whatever in Cambodia, it's a pretty strange country sometimes. So we came to this really shady place with like an garagedoor as entrance on a back alley. But, maybe before our better judgement, we went in.
And it was an arcaade... a regular (old as f**k) arcade. Not free or anything. But apparently it was actually illegal they told us. We didn't want to play the arcade and beaten we took the tuk-tuk home to our hostel (the driver was happy). What happened next was that we took the other way from the hostel than we had taken before and with our hopes of gaming gone we suddenly, literarily walked in to, less than 100m from our hostel, a fully functional internet cafe full of cambodian teenagers playing DotA...
We got the last 3 computers and created asian battle.net account. The fee was like 5 cent/hour. And we played with all the Cambodians in the cafe who were really cool and wanted us to play with them. We thought of ourselfes as pretty okay DotA players from back in sweden. But man, they all beat the crap out of us. It al was so very unexpected for us and it made us really happy to feel like we could have fun and communicate with cambodians our age, just like we would have in sweden (or even better). We came back and played with them like 2-3 more times and we started to know them. (They even taught us a few good item builds) And it was almost a bit sad when we had to move on.
It's probably the best experience I'we had from gaming and one of the best experiences from the whole trip.
After teamliquid started featuring DotA 2 I watched the International 2. I was blown away by the production and how exiting the game was to watch, even though i knew very little about it (though knowing the wc3 version helped). And also to see European and Chinese players compete against each other (for 1000000$, but still be very friendly and joking around) made me think about that time in Cambodia when the game helped us get past cultural differences and just have fun.
(Became a bit more than a paragraph, but I got so exited remembering the whole backstory again)
Also gratz liq! happyhappy long time! Hwightiing!!!Last edit: 2012-09-25 09:31:21 |
