I guess my problem is that the hero who's entire gimmick is "huge Agility" is pretty much equal in that regards (+-10~ agility off the top of my head) to someone else, whose strengths lie entirely somewhere else, who grows at a constant rate, without the 5-6 level stagnation of 1.9 growth before a burst. I mean, if her weak growth is supposed to counter balance the huge Agi bursts, doesn't that kinda just defeat the entire purpose? |

No, first because her agi growth was always far ahead of every other hero, with only the buffed PL coming close. So she would still have more agility at 25. But more importantly because the gamechanging moments in a game are not at 25. Being much stronger at 16 is great if you want to finish the game or at lest get a huge lead around level 16.
There is a reason why midgame carries are more popular than super lategame carries, having your peak at 16 isn't really an issue. Drow has much bigger problems that make her a weaker pick, but that's just not it.
If you are thinking this game could use a Drow, but now PL can overshadow her with his increased agi growth, it won't happen. PL is a completelly diferent hero. And the comparison doesn't exist with other heros, because noone comes close to his agi growth. The issue is the lack of games you could use a Drow.Last edit: 2012-10-01 01:35:21 |

Except that the damage of the initial is buffed. So its basically evened out at lower life percents now.

Not really, i've never seen anyone note-worthy go OoV on spectre in a competitive game, because it's not really good, she has plenty of slow already and plenty of chase-ability as well.

OoV on illusions is also bugged in DotA 2 right now such that they apply the real OoV buff rather than a fake buff like they do in DotA 1. That said, Spec's early game itemization is already pretty over-stocked that it's questionable whether ditching any of them would be worth the gain of OoV, even on an illusion hero. Typically you'll have something like: Stout/PMS, Wand, Boots, TP, Regen item, Stats/HP item You can't ditch the Stout or Regen item because you need them to actually be able to lane. You obviously can't ditch Boots or TP. The Stats/HP item is typically much bigger and much more relevant to your ability to contribute to a fight than the OoV would be (e.g. Janggo or Vit Booster), so you're not ditching that. You could ditch the wand, but it's questionable whether what the OoV gives you is better than what you'd get from a Stick/Wand.

Yeah, tranquil also gives the illusions high enough movespeed to get off at least the first hit unless the spectre herself has been damaged and the cheaper OoV makes it more viable. OoV is practically a totally different item in dota 2 though, as it's not a buff placer and is an orb instead. Going tranquil - pms - oov makes her level 6 ult have a noticeable presence in a teamfight even if desolate isn't being used or without the real spectre being present. There's a difference between her dagger slow (which sucks in dota 2 due to the pathing of it) hitting multiple people and getting a guaranteed 12% ms slow on the entire opposing team. Also venge's agi gain is at agi carry levels and her str gain is still quite good. Maybe we'll see her used as a carry by people on occasion again?
Afaik the only Orb-Effect that works on illusions is Diffusial Blade on a melee hero or did i miss something about OoV?
It's a bug in DotA 2 that illusions get OoV right now. Not a high priority fix because the item needs the help anyway, but has been acknowledged.
TBH I think it's more applicable on PL than on Spec.

This is a blatantly false statement. All damage from Batrider's attacks, items and skills is amplified, except for damage from Radiance.
If you have no clue how sticky napalm is coded, don't even attempt talking about it. Sticky napalm amplifies damage that is more than 33. Old radiance only dealt 30, new radiance deals 33.75. So New radiance gets amplified
If Icefrog didn't have the foresight to change the triggering damage for Batrider's Napalm, he's going to fix it in 6.75b.

The initial damage got buffed by 25. That's not enough to make up for the difference between 275 bonus damage and 20% max HP at low levels.
Granted the other thing to keep in mind is that being able to have a hard camp creep's ability pre-6 is a massive boost to your burst damage at level 6.
Also, Chilling Touch is only 2 instances with a 50 second CD at rank 1, lol. It's more a usability fix of allowing someone to get rid of the AS debuff on creeps if they don't want it. The lower ranks are weak enough that it's really not worth giving up Cold Feet ranks for.Last edit: 2012-10-01 03:10:39 |
