mousesports parts ways with their Dota team

GD Studio steps in to send mouz to Kiev

According to revelations on tonight's episode of The GD Show, the mousesports Dota 2 team are being sent to Kiev, Ukraine to compete in the imminent LAN finals for Season III of the SLTV Star Series only on the graces of The GD Studio, rather than having their trip funded mousesports organisation itself.

The mousesports Dota 2 team alleges that their sponsors refused to pay for their flights to Kiev - valued at approximately 2,000€ - and so turned to uk James '2GD' Harding (host of The GD Show), who agreed for his company to make a one-off investment in the team to finance their trip.

The team have confirmed that they will parting ways with mousesports and play under an as-of-yet undecided temporary name during the duration of the competition in Kiev, and then most likely reform after its conclusion.

Mousesports statement from facebook:

Due to a recent article posted on joinDOTA.com we wanted to clarify the situation about the current mousesports Dota 2 team. After The International, our team partially disbanded and we've set up a temporary Dota 2 lineup for the time beeing. Before the Starladder Finals, we've agreed with the players to release them out of their running contracts in October 2012, since some wanted to pursue a different career approach in Dota 2. It wouldn't make any sense to send a team to Kiev, that isn't contracted and won't play for mousesports anymore, so mousesports won't finance the team's trip to Kiev. The unpaid trip to Kiev is in no relation with the mousesports sponsors, as it was a decision by mousesports to not pay the travel and accomodation costs for a disbanded team. Despite all this confusion, we're wishing our former temporary Dota 2 team best of luck in Kiev.

More from mouz on their facebook.

The players have been released out of their contracts, because all parties agreed to do so. All fine, no hard feelings in here.

On a future note: We're not dropping Dota 2 entirely, although you won't likely see us signing a new team in the near future. We just want to take some precious time to think about a new and cool team.

Interesting...

Hmm, so what is the likelihood that the new team name references Bamboe's penis?

I read on reddit that mouz didn't sponsor their trip because they knew the team was disbanding after this tourney, so it was just a wasted investment for them on a disbanding team. Won't all this team disbanding, shuffling hurt the scene in the long run? Why would teams invest in their players and try to build branding with them, if players keep moving teams?

Would've been nice if the title actually reflected the article and if you had more sources. Copy pasting an article from another site with no contribution from yourself is extremely piss poor.

Welcome to the reddit mentality. I would vote to delete those kind of articles.

I've always wondered why people want this and I know it's a rule on TL. However, if it's news on another site, I just want the news as is and don't care for the op's personal opinion on the news itself, so I have no probs with copy and pasted news articles myself.

Does the op adding his own views on the news add any value to the post? I don't think so and I normally skip those and just read the news itself.

The issue arose I think because of all the shuffles the team have had recently. Mouz wudnt pay a stand in to go - which is what Black technically is atm, and the players in the "new" (old? lol) line up cudnt/wudnt all go. So mouse basically had a slot that all the players wanted to fill at the LAN finals, but no actual full line up to send.

I personally can't blame them as an organisation for not wanting to pay for this, but it is all a bit unprofessional, confusing, and messy how all the information is coming out in dribs and drabs from various people and places - much better for Mouz to just announce that they are leaving, and a draft team will be going to the event under a different name but many similar players and they wish them luck - then let the players say their part. Very bizzare the whole thing tbh.

**FYI most of my info about it all comes from people I know, nothing direct - so if its wrong don't flame me but the sources are fairly reliable, but nothing direct from those involved**

New name is going to be Good Bear Slayers if tobi gets his own way haha

I changed the title to be about 2GD sending them to Kiev because it's a bit more clear that's what is happening, and added in the statement from facebook to the OP. Interesting move overall.

edit: reading this more clearly my first title change was bad so reverting to something closer to the original ._.

Cool save by 2GD, I'm wondering who is going to pick up sing+friends though, and if the lineup stays how it is in the future.
