World renowned Chinese carry player Xu “BurNIng” Zhilei of Team DK announced today that he would be retiring from professional DotA after next year's The International 3.
Widely regarded as one of the best carries out there, BurNIng had a somewhat disappointing run at TI2 with Team DK, finishing in 4th place after getting knocked out by eventual winners iG.
BurNIng announced his retirement today in an interview with SGamer.
DK recently changed its roster, and you defeated Invictus Gaming earlier today in the WCG opening. Any comment about this match, and can you also talk about current DK’s status?
We don’t play DotA a lot lately, and we just change our line-up. Our team is still in the process of getting familiar with each other. I thought it would be a tough game, but never thought we could actually win iG.
Why Dai and 357?
This decision is probably made right after TI2, we had quite lots of players to consider. Finally Dai and 357 were chosen because our team can have a friendly atmosphere, we need good friendships to build a stronger team.
How difficult is to train DotA and DotA2 at the same time from a professional perspective?
These two games have certain differences. For example, in DotA, you have to click bottle then rune, but you can directly right click rune to bottle it in Dota 2. Hot keys in Dota 2 are different as well, you can directly modify the hot key setting in game. 357 likes to use QWER, once we train in DotA, 357’s TH wanted to eat one tango, his item hot key is V in Dota 2, so he accidently popped his ulti. It was really awkward.

| To be honest, 90% of my Chinese friends stayed with Dota1. I even offered them Dota 2 and they all refused. Their main reason is the computer spec requirement. Their computers can run WC3 perfectly, but cannot run Dota2 perfectly. Another reason is the subtle difference in games. Most of them are very good at Dota1. Changing to Dota2 means that they need to relearn a lot of things. Most of them are not willing to do so yet. |
