I thought of this around the finals of last GSTL but never bothered to put it together. Now we have the Elephants grazing in the Mok-Dong studio, a small downtime until the next tournament and a lack of drama (boooo!), I figure there's no better time for it.
Do you think you have what it takes to assemble the ultimate SC2 Squad? Have you called Coach Kang a fool for his picks in GSTLs passed? Do you think you could assemble such a devastating team that EG will be pounding Red Bulls (Because you certainly don't want to be doing that with Monster ) just to stay awake and keep practising, so fearful is your team? Then this is the game for you.
Rules:
Pick Rules: + Show Spoiler +Each team can have a Maximum of Eight players. Each team can have a Maximum of Two Code players . Each team can have a Maximum of Two Code players. The four remaining must be Code-B or Foreigner (Foreigners will have rankings found below)
The KESPA Exception: + Show Spoiler +All Kespa players will have their current rankings removed (e.g. Flash is no longer Code- A) but the following penalty will be incurred for picking them; 1 Kespa player is the equivalent of 1 Code-S player AND 1 Code-A player. So for instance you could pick Flash which would then allow you to pick an additional Code-S player and Code-A player leaving you with 6 spots for Code-B/Foreigners. Or you can go for the Brood-War fan boy pick and have the dream ProLeague combination of Flash and Jaedong but the rest of your team would be rounded off by Code-B players and foreigners.
Foreigner Rankings: + Show Spoiler +Code S: Stephano (sorry, rest of the world, get on his level) Code A: MaNa, NaNiwa, ThorZaIN, TLO, HuK, Nerchio, Scarlett, (Yes these foreigner rankings are highly biased, not based on fact in the least just assessing based on previous performance in the GSL and/or have won major International tournaments recently. For a show of how biased these rankings are, I took Major out of Code A because I want to use him for my Code B picks - It's my game, suck it.) Everyone else from HasuObs to CombatEX is the equivalent of Code-B
So what are you waiting for? Make your picks!
+ Show Spoiler + P.S. I understand doing this mid-season with Code-S/A positions in a state of flux is kind of a joke but unless someone wants to put an expanded Code-S/Code-A list of players together, allowing you to pick from that (hint, I don't) then we're just going with what's what at the time of posting.

Code B:
My first pick is... + Show Spoiler + MajorThe Mexican Terran is strong but not the best in all 3 match-ups. With a solid macro style and the ability to mimic build orders allowing for strong timings. Major is a great Code-B pick up. However, due to personal issues Major will be kept in a box at all times and only let out to play or to high five team-mates when he wins. Has to play on his AnnaProsser account.
My second pick is... + Show Spoiler + TAiLSA Protoss player who made his name defeating both Nestea and MVP in the GSTL. However, more recently he's become known as one of the deadliest Snipers in the business as shown by his Cannon Rush against PartinG on the newly added map Crux Lagoon.
My third pick is... + Show Spoiler +TearAlthough I may be confusing him with Tree. Tear is a sufficiently solid Protoss with the ability to get streaky such as his 3 kill against Fnatic this season
These last two picks would have been piss easy, 3 months ago. Just pick Creator and HyuN and lololol your way to victory. However, having recently both gained the Code-S places they deserve I'll have to find someone else.
My fourth and fifth picks are...+ Show Spoiler +YongHwaThe closest I could think of to Creator. A HUGE Macro Protoss, despite his best efforts and Artosis' blessing, Yonghwa just can't get out of the purgatory that is Code B. However, as Homestory Cup IV showed, maybe Artosis can be right occasionally. And for my fifth, DIMAGAFor my final Code-B pick I tried to think of who loves Banelings as much as Hyun? There's only one answer, the founder of the 2/2 Baneling Bust and destroyer of building walls, whether made of Supply Depots or Engineering Bays, Dimaga shows no fear. His high level mechanics also give him the ability to play a macro game and Dima is probably the only player to ever get Hero to leave a game purely by not attacking. Ever.
Code A: My pick is... + Show Spoiler +TaeJaAhahahaha, my terrible timing at releasing this game allows me to cheat at it too. It feels good to have power! Taeja won't be in Code-A much longer so get your picks in while you can. What do I have to say, everyone knows how good he is and how much better he could be. The one thing held against him is his lack of a GSL but that hasn't stopped any other GSTL domineers in the past (if anything, they're team league results dropped off massively after reaching the top in the individual leagues)
Code S: My pick is... + Show Spoiler +DongRaeGuDoes anything need to be said? He's carried MVP through countless team-leagues, won multiple MLG titles and has a GSL to his name. Total. Nerd. Baller.
Anyone who's been counting can see where this is going. My final Ace pick is a Kespa player. There's only one choice + Show Spoiler + nuff said
YOUR TURN

Wow i was going to do this but as i kept reading, i felt like i was in grade school being bullied.

How is it a "dream team" when you already have teams with 3-5 Code S players.

I think this is just so the game is objective and everyone wont just be picking the top 8 code s players/top kespa players

Code S: Life + Show Spoiler +Just won MLG and the GSL in a pretty dominant fashion. He's a really fucking good player lol... DRG + Show Spoiler +Been really good for a while and won a lot of stuff including the GSL, MLG, IEM, and Dreamhack. He also got out of his code S group, which is a pretty good sign for him being in shape Code A: NaNiwa + Show Spoiler +I really like seeing NaNi play, and in addition to that, he's really damn good when he's in shape. His games vs. Flash during MLG were really impressive, even though he ended losing. He is probably the only foreigner that I consider to be up there with the Koreans in major tournaments like MLG and GSL aside from maybe Stephano and HuK if he ever gets back into his winning form. Though actually having him on a team could be a liability, I think that his play and the fact that he is a foreigner is worth it. Mvp + Show Spoiler +He is Mvp. Recent 2nd place to Life in the GSL after beating Rain, which was really impressive after seeing Rain look so unstoppable. I believe Mvp can honestly take on any player on the planet if he puts his mind to it and is in shape. He is also very accomplished, which would help attract sponsors to my team and hopefully draw them away from NaNiwa. Code B/rest: Sen,viOLet , Sting, and Oz
Made sure to edit my post so there is less of a chance of this thread being closed since it would be a pointless list thread otherwise lol...
+ Show Spoiler [Team disregarding the rules] +Sen, NaNiwa, MC, Mvp, Life, Rain, Flash, Ret, HuK, XiGua, F91, MacSed, Comm, CrazymovING, Sting, MKP, DRG, Stephano with NaDa, BoxeR, and Cella as coaches.

Putting the only foriegners worth having on the team in Code A/Code S is silly man, I would have gone with Thorzain, but he'll be taking away from a Code A slot.

This is boring, you just pick your favorite players, and they're not even participating in one tournament. Nothing dreamy about this.
Bring back Fantasy League!
|
Code S: Life, Creator Code A: MVP, Taeja
Code b: First, oz, lucifron, vortix
Is this allowed? First and oz are not in code a, afaik
But in what league are we going to be comparing? Also it's kind of lame to not be able to pick certain foreigners because they're code a level, while koreans of higher level in code b can be picked.
Edit: agreed with above, i want fantasy league! :D

...Hm.
White-Ra (because special tactics), Kiwikaki (my inspiration to play Starcraft II!), Hero (my absolute favorite player), Sase (manner Protoss, hard worker), Scarlett (probably the best female player on the scene since TossGirl), TLO (KITTEH), Byun (PUPPEH), MarineKing (because he's just so gosh darn cute).
...There. I don't know if that works by your rules, but yeah. Ridiculous reasons, but I don't care, they are my favorite players and I'm sticking to my picks. <3

I totally agree, especially the Major part...

How is this creating the ultimate dream team squad?
I think you mean just creating a cool team given your arbitrary parameters.
I choose:
Mvp, Nestea, MC, IdrA, Flash, Thorzain, iNcontroL, and WhiteRa.

DongRaeGu MVP Idra MMA Naniwa Stephano Taeja Hero

Was hoping this was some kind of a sc2 fantasy league, now that would be awesome.
This is pointless.

Lol! QFT. I mean it's not much of a dream team if you have 6 foreigners and Flash is it?

Sase (Foreigner) Sen (Code B) Violet (Code B) Oz (Code B)
MC (Code A) MVP (Code A) Hyun (Code S) Leenock (Code S)
That's right, one T x.x

Lame rules, which I'll ignore. If I was a billionaire and could get anyone I'd want on my team, I'd probably try to get a mix between some good personalities, and really good players, all of whom had to be able to speak English relatively well.
Polt MC Violet Thorzain Stephano Grubby TLO Snute
Basically just an ensemble of SC2 players I like and I think could fit together as a team.
