I need a mouse that can be able to survive a few years...
I have choose 2 mice the G9x and the Abyssus
Abyssus being one of the most popular starcraft2 mouses out there with great shape and texture. An insane amount of starcraft 2 Pros use this mouse but alot of them are sponsored.
The G9x being a more advanced mouse with DPI toggles and such. Used less in the starcraft community but JaeDong and MKP both use it these two players are known for LEGENDARY Micro.
Either mouse mouse is good for me but I want the one that will last the longest!
I have a G9X. It feels like you could smash it against a wall and it would work just fine. The thing is as solid as you can get. The buttons are really nice too. A much more satisfying click than the Razer mouse I used to use.
I've also had it for 2 years and it hasn't given me a single problem. I switch between it and a G1 quite frequently.
Im pretty sure the G9x has sensor flaws. Every mouse has its issues, but you should look into them very deeply before making a decision if you want to be in the upper levels of mouse skill.
You could get GM with 50apm and a micro god is a micro god even with suboptimal equipment, so take popularity as a hint towards effectiveness, but not complete information. You have to remember that >99% of gamers know very very little about the technology and just play the game, pro's included - There's lot of stuff to improve on, or straight out bad settings and such that are used because people dont know any better, but it's better to learn and avoid issues rather than tolerate them or be ignorant to their existance.
I've used both mice and I prefer the G9x more. Here are the advantages it has over the Abyssus imo:
-Slimmer/lighter than Abyssus when used without a shell -More easily accessible DPI adjustment buttons -Weight adjustment -Saves sensitivity and settings in the mouse so it makes switching computers less of a pain -Mouse 4/5 buttons -Has two modes for the mouse scroll
I prefer the handling of the Abyssus, but it feels plasticish as hell, and mine usually last only 3-5 months. My G9x is a lot more solid and ofc has lots of extra niceties, and these days you can get it on Amazon for $55 so price is good too.
So.... overall I'd give the G9x a slight advantage if you don't play too much in a day. If one were to play 8+ hours a day at decently high apm (I would do 230+ average each game), which I have done at times, I would immediately go with the Abyssus. The way I grip the mouse anyways, the G9x is RSI waiting to happen if used that much.
g9x, lasted longer than my death adder and had no problems as this was the first one that I bought. The first Deathadder that I bought it glitched out when I updated the firmware.

Sadly not lighter, but slimmer, yes. I've also had both mice and vastly prefer the G9x. Control and everything feels a lot more sleek with the shape. Feet also glide more smoothly (although that may just be my opinion, that's what I noticed first off). Works just fine with cloth/hard pads.
One thing that may take a while to get used to (compared to other mice in general) is the scroll wheel. The middle button is really hard to push and the wheel is a bit more loose-feeling than most other mice.
Not defending the Abyssus here (i wouldnt buy one) but seriously, look really in depth if you want a mouse that suits you. Sensor-wise AND grip-wise.
>99.9% dont know or care about the differences or inadequacies of various sensors and mice but if you really want to push things, it will matter to you. You dont know what you are missing until you have it.
Been using the same gaming mouse since 2005/2006 and has been used prolly just as much as anyone's has. Played WoW about 8 hours a day for 3 years str8 (/played to prove) plus CS, SC and battlefield, TF2, needless to say I've really abused this mouse. Love the shape/buttons/glide its an extension of my body, but after 7 years of daily abuse what can you expect. I can't say much about the mice you asked about, but if you want lifetime on a great mouse. id like to see mine beat.
ps. bought mine from newegg for 3.99 back in the day. wish i bought 10 of them
i have an abyssus and the scroll wheel is a bit buggy after only a year of use. for every 2-3 lines scrolling up, it will also scroll down 1. Kind of annoying. On the other hand my experience with Logitech leads me to suspect that in terms of build quality, Logitech is quite a bit better than Razer.
G9x, every day of the week. Abyssus is nice as well but considering both companies track records concerning customer service and overall reliability i'd go with the g9x.
G9x is amazing in every way, and I would not recommened anything over it. I am a compulsive mouse purchaser, so my word should be trusted, as I have used a lot of mice.
i have an abyssus and i don't use it anymore, after i bought the g9x i haven't touched another mouse it's amazing. the shape might be a bit funny in the beginning but you'll get used to it after a day or two. one of my favourite features is the weight customization - i've always had problems with mice being too light so i just stick a couple weights in there until it's perfect. =)
also a customizable led.. imo for the extra 20 it's way worth it. i've used mine daily for like 2 years (i think.. my 2yr mamba warranty expired and i bought these two around the same time i believe) with intensive clicking and it's working perfectly with no flaws at all, so pretty durable from my experience.
