With the group stage of the broodwarmaps.net open finishing it's time to get serious. The round of 16 and on-wards is a single elimination bracket. Win or go home outside. The group stages saw some of the foreign scene's best talents all vying for a piece of the modest $150 prize pool, with WandS, TrutaCz, LocDog, Cryoc, and eOnzErG coming out 1st in their respective groups. They are joined by 10 others and the wildcard spot winner Octzerg in the round of 16.
The maps have also been updated to fix some of the most common issues raised. Be sure to download the updated map pack and delete the old one before playing. The change log can be seen in the map list section below and is also included in the download link. Post any bugs, balance issues, and any feedback in this thread.

* improved gas and mineral positions for best possible worker pathing * tightened nat choke for easier protoss wallin * extended high ground wall at mineral only to make flanks harder * slightly tightened the middle path (lava bridge) * removed some of the unbuildable shale-terrain around the middle to make space for turrets
* tightened ramps to the middle * added more building space on the high ground around the close third * all far thirds are now wallable with 3 pylons, walling should also be more intuitive than before * added turret spots on the low ground between the rocky ground.
* improved gas and mineral positions for best possible worker pathing * changed some nat chokes to equalize wallin/simcity opportunities between different positions
* improved gas and mineral positions for best possible worker pathing * fixed some weird spots were Zerglings could slip through unintended paths * got rid of that buggy player colour, it's the standard purple now
The map pack includes a melee, observer, and training version. The melee version will be the one used for matches. The training versions allow you to set your spawning location to practice wall-offs and familiarize yourself with the maps.
Hacklebeast will be joining birdie to cast the round of 16 on-wards. Cast will be on Tuesday, Jan. 8th at 18:00est.

Yes sorry about that, I've had lots of sound difficulties but hopefully next time will be much better.
Thanks everyone for watching the cast, I'd love any comments and critique on my casting (I know about the technical difficulties, so don't worry about mentioning them >.>)

Nice cast it was pretty good...does allied colors work on replays? I couldn't see blue lings on ash vs red lings on magma...at least with allied colors I can see one of the players xP although I watched on iPod which might be why quality wasn't too good...observer probably can click on minimap more accurately but overall it was a good cast
