The UC Davis eSports Club is excited to continue the year with our Winter 2013 Welcome LAN!
After our previous success with the Fall LAN, we are ready to do it all again, and once again we will be hosting and StarCraft II and League of Legends tournament. Continuing from the previous tournament, we are increasing the prizes for everyone, both the competitors and the spectators.
For players and spectators alike raffles, contests, and social activities will be ongoing throughout our tournament, so everyone attending can enjoy their time in-game and out!
None of this would have been possible though if it weren’t for the help from TteSPORTS (https://twitter.com/ttesports), Twitch.tv (https://twitter.com/TwitchTV), Riot Gaming (https://twitter.com/LeagueOfLegends), Patriot Memory (https://twitter.com/patriotmemory) and Blizzard (https://twitter.com/StarCraft).
Date: Saturday, January 26th, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (PST)
Location: UC Davis ARC Ballroom [Map]
Cost: An $8 fee will grant you entry into one of the two tournaments. Those wishing to spectate will not be charged an entry fee, and may come and go as they please.
We will also be selling membership cards for our future events. Normally the membership card would cost $15, but if you purchase this with your entry ticket, it will be a combined total of $20! So don’t hesitate, and begin enjoying the benefits of being a UC Davis eSport Member.

StarCraft II Main Tournament
The main tournament will consist of a double elimination 64-player 1v1 bracket. Each round will be a Bo3 until the semi-finals, where rounds will continue as Bo5. Competitors of any rank will be welcome to give the tournament a try, and players advancing to the Ro8 will win tiered money and prizes depending on their final placement.
Consolation Tournament
Because it sucks to be knocked out of a LAN early, we will be hosting an additional 1v1 tournament with a smaller prize pool later in the day. This will be a second chance for many of the competitors who hit an unlucky string of matches and still have more to show. Prizes will include coaching sessions from our schools aces such as ruxin, Tbeezy and Spanishiwa, as well as gaming gear, gift cards and swag.
League of Legends Tournament
The main tournament will consist of a double elimination 8 teams 1v1 bracket. Each round will be a Bo1 until the finals, where rounds will continue as Bo3. Competitors of any rating will be welcome to give the tournament a try, and teams advancing to the Ro4 will win tiered money and prizes.
A New Challenger Approaches
This time, we’re going to be adding another title to our lineup. However, before we make a final decision, we want to know what you would want to see! So if you’re interested in competing in something else, shoot us a message and we’ll see what happens!
