Feb 06 - Launcher broke?

HOTS Went down for downtime yesterday (Feb 05) I woke up this morning and it seems the launcher is broken?

First off it started up as Starcraft 2 2012 Beta.

Then it "Updated" and broke the launcher completely and it crashed. Now it's hanging on "Updating blizzard launcher...." Is anyone else experiencing difficulties? or is it just me?

I had exactly the same experience, except for the crash and hanging part, hots is running fine now, so it must be you... Try the repair option?

I did not experience this. Today, i first loaded up WoL to communicate with someone, then went into HOTS, i noticed the blizzard launcher DL'd something for WoL, but just won a ladder match on HOTS. I was not paying attention during HOTS's startup.

I managed to play last night, I don't think it isn't working.

ZoneAlarm is what caused the problem for me. After the launcher patch I had to manually unblock it. If you are using a firewall (even the built in windows one) you might whant to check if it blocks the launcher.

Yeah I had to unblock it all again, but after a restart of the launcher it seems to work now and can get in to HOTS fine.

Id try running it in admin mode also. Sometimes Ive noticed that the launcher will try to update but lacks permission to write to my computer so it will just get stuck. Usually Ill get that popup saying "do you want this program to make changes to your computer. . ." but when that doesnt happen i have to run the launcher at least once as administrator to give it the permission to update.

Had to the same problem, launcher game me a message "unable to read blabla file" and just shut down. Works by running it in administrator mode though

i got a beta key today and the launcher wouldnt work lol. found a few possible solutions

1. delete the battle.net cache (on windows 7: c:\programdata - remove the blizzard folder)
2. deactivate antivirus program
3. eject the cd tray, as someone figured the launcher tried to read from the CD-drive where there obviously was no CD
4. what ultimately solved it for me was accidentally restarting the computer when i was going to eject the cd tray, lol. when my computer had rebooted the launcher worked fine.

Blizzard's launchers are the biggest pieces of shit from the company yet. I've been having problems with ALL of them for at least 3 years now.
