All information about the tournament, prize and registration can be found there. If you don't know what Star Strikers is, please check the promo video :
The tournament registration deadline is 30th March. The games will be played during April, starting April 6th.
If you have any questions regarding the game, the tourney or me - ask them here or at the The Star Strikers forums.
Cool idea! Star strikers is super fun even though I'm terrible at it :/
If you can find friends to play with, its always fun! It doesn't matter if you are good or not.
I want djwheat and whacksteven in this lol
Me too, however for an event of this small scale I doubt they would want to spend time casting. We will try to have a stream for the finals though (on 27/28 April).
I'm updating the OP with the list of the current registers: Tonic [Zealot] - Freelancer killer [reaper] - Freelancer ZZTan[Ghost] - Freelancer SatansAngel[SCV] - Freelancer Megamind [Drone] - Freelancer Kamen [Probe] Buhn [Stalker] TundraDrum [Marauder] Salmacis[Queen] Netarendo(Thor) abraXas [Queen] Ariakan[infestor] Spunkx[Marauder] Drakanor[Immortal]
Great idea!! finally some competetive scene maybe the time for me to come back and dominate the scene again with queen-marauder-reaper/ling matchups =)

However I am curious, why does everyone play 3v3 as opposed to 5v5 ?
It's a pretty big field so why does the competitive standard shrink it down to 60% of the default player count?
There's several reasons to that: 1) We can divide players into more teams. 2) 5v5 is chaotic. The avalanche of special abilities makes the game harder to predict, thus lowering the advantage given by strategy and personal skill. 3) Many top players won't bother to participate as it's the most loathed format in private games. 4) It's easier to form a team and practice. 5) When a game is streamed, it doesn't look like a giant clusterfuck anymore.
We (sc2tv.ru) wanted to stream some big SS tournament so much (we even made and streamed recently fun tournament without prize pool), but 3x3 format is pretty hard to watch as I think. Maybe 5x5 is much more chaotic, but it's very interesting to watch even for new people, which are looking at this game at first time, because so many thing are going on at once. 3x3 is sometimes really boring to watch (but maybe more interesting to play, yeah) We'll wait then for some other opportunity to stream SS tourney =)

3x3 has always been the competitive standard for NA tourneys and will never change to 5v5. Its a lot better since you can see people actually defend and pass the ball well instead of the everyone just spamming skills in a 5v5.

If you want an example of a fun 3v3 cast, look at losefast video :
I will say that if you wait for a big 5v5 tourney, you will never get a high level play. The closest you can get is a 4v4. However, that is still hard to get, unless we get more players playing the game. So if the Russian community wants to help (you guys are awesome btw!), feel free to contact me at any time.
Also I think the most spectacular things in the game are punish saves, marauder supreshot goals and amazing queen graples (see the video in the OP), which you will rarely (if ever) show to your audience unless you stream pro games,
I want to thank you all for interest you show in the tourney. We already have a sizable amount of participants and we are off to a good start. Most of the top of the Star Strikers scene is already here, so I expect an amazing tourney!
Tune in the strikers channel at 19:30 CET. There will be observer spots I'm sure! We plan on streaming group A today a bit later at 21:30 CET (with or without commentaries). The stream is http://de.twitch.tv/mentalosc .
