Hi TL,
My translation career has brought me to Japan for a few weeks and I'd like to organize a meetup here in Tokyo to meet all you fine nerds once before I leave!
I'm looking specifically at Devil CraftDevil Craft (http://en.devilcraft.jp/), which serves craft beer and Chicago-style pizza here in Tokyo.
Date: April 6th, 7:30pm JST Address:4-2-3 Nihonbashi-muromachi Chuo-ku, Tokyo 103-0022 (ISHIKAWA Bldg. 1-5F)
I'll make a reservation next week, so if you can come, please respond to this thread.
If the sticking point is expenses, please don't be concerned too much -- because of my work, I can expense up to 12,000 yen per day, and I mean to save all of it for the day for this dinner, and splitting any excess with everyone.
I hope to meet as many of you fine TL nerds as I can

I don't live in Japan so I can't meet up, but I was just wondering what exactly do you do in your translation career?
|
Moth I PM'd you as its not really on topic.

I'd be happy to come up and meet up with everyone if I am around, I have to fly down to Okinawa on the 2nd, and I am not sure how long my business down there is going to take. If I am back home on the 6th I'll try my best to make it up!

Maybe you should try to Contact Sugeo! He managed the BarCraft Tokyo and I think he can get some Japanese Players to come, like the incredibly sexy Nemuke for example. I can't be there unfortunately, but I am jealous of you! Wish you guys a good time ;D

Hi there! If you did not know there is actually a e-sports club near Tokyo called e-sports Square. Here is the link: https://e-sports-square.com/ they do a lot of tournament and i am pretty sure you can meet Japanese SC2 players there!

I was actually just there for the first time today. I got the chance to play heart of the swarm :-) I was thinking the place is empty and needs a whole lot more love. I'm going to write up a blog about it with photos and access information. My spoken Japanese is crap, but it was a lot of fun to talk about StarCraft with somebody here! I cried a little I was so happy on my train home, haha.
Thanks, I'll try to get in touch with Sugeo.

There's also a few places in the city called WIP where you can play, I now know. We could go afterwards and play some games if anyone's interested

I've just submitted the event to appear on the barcraft page. I really wish I had known to put it up on there sooner. I feel like such a noob! I hope I'll be able to meet some of you there next week!

Will try to show up! I hear rumours of a typhoon and a risk of trains stopping though <.<
|
I had to change the reservation to 9:30pm. Sorry for the last minute change. I've updated the barcraft listing. !!!!!!Sorry!!!!!! I'll try to get there around then to intercept nerds and I hope to see you guys soon
|
I'm heading out there now. Hope to meet you guys soon!
|
Sorry I won't be able to make it tonight :[
|
Thanks for the invitation, was nice!
|
I'm glad you're had fun :-) I wish I took a picture!! Be on the lookout for the event thread in a day or two. I hope to see you guys again very soon!

Hopefully next time it can be earlier than 9:30pm, that would only allow me to show up for about 10 minutes since my local train stops running at around 11. Storms don't make it an enjoyable journey either. :D

Sounds like an invitation to hold another meet-up! I think I might be able to put something together before I leave Japan.
