I've been thinking about all the video games i love and was catagorizeing them based on how good their music was. Here is what i came up with as my favorites:
Metroid Prime - Main theme was extremely haunting and was always kinda scary. -1st clip (long vs) -2nd Clip (short vs)
The lengend of Zelda - who doesn't love the main theme to this game. -1st clip (classic vs) -2nd clip (piano vs)
Tons from Final Fantasy - So many to count i couldn't name them
Original Halo theme - Alot of people thought i was annoying but i liked it
Super mario bros. - named for obvious reasons lol. so catchy.
What are some of your favorites? Please post alittle clip of the music if you can find it too.

Final Fantasy music is awesome.

The music in Chrono Cross is amazing.
EDIT: This is one of the songs in the game (ending music IIRC) titled Without taking the Jewel by Radical Dreamers. Beautiful guitar, and not too difficult to play (gl finding a decent tab though).

i thought chrono trigger had better music than chrono cross

Simple and clean for sure (Kingdom Hearts). Also, though I don't know its name, there's a bitching one from FF9. It plays when your on an airship and teleporting... sort of sad and epic. Final Fantasy X Blitzball opening raped. Oh yeah, and 7's "rufus music." was rocking (always loved rufus ) Chrono trigger's final boss had great music...
too many to name ^_^

Many Final Fantasy games, without question. CC, CT, and Castlevania series are also givens.
Personally, two I haven't seen mentioned that I'd put up there would be ToeJam & Earl and the Sonic series. Specifically, Sonic 2.
O, and one I can never get the theme/biography music out of my head: Eternal Champions.
There's tons with good/catchy music.

All the music from Chrono Trigger (SNES) was amazing. Very immersive. That game was so much better than anything else out at the time.

F ZERO X SOUNDTRACK + SONIC ADVENTURE 2 soundtrack are by far the greatest in my opinion. So professionally done, insane guitarwork on f-zero soundtrack. it is better than many power metal bands.
