Hey I am not sure if there was a post of it here (didn't see any), but I thought it was worthy enough to make a post about.
ROOT Gaming is excited to announce the founding of its very own academy, SEED! Like other Starcraft academies, SEED will sign promising SC2 players and give them the resources needed to hone their skills and develop their talent. But what sets SEED apart from other academies is the simple structure that will allow players to rank their progress amongst not only each other, but the main team as well: SEED players will participate in ROOT's internal rankings tournaments, where consistently high placements will earn promotions to the main team and a spot at the team house.
Our first three members of SEED are Arium, SolO, and NajzMajs, all of whom are very young at only 13-14 years old and have displayed strong performances on ladder. Arium had a chance to play on the mainstage at MLG Anaheim and with SolO and NajzMajs coming from Norway and Sweden, respectively, the ROOT organization will now have two players living in Europe. @2xNoodle interviewed the three players to learn more about them and their thoughts about joining the ROOT organization through SEED:

Overall I'm pretty indifferent to ROOT, but this I really like. I hope it goes somewhere and it works out for them.

pretty happy about this go root

I don't want to sound rude but Najzmajs loses to lowmid masters in small eu tourneys... I somehow see his friendship with catz working out positively for him in this regard... My more or less semi competitive clan has some very young high masters who beat Najzmajs on ladder many times already... For me the signing can only be justified with ROOT seeing some BIG room for improvement and a high future skill potential in him...

Cool stuff. Always happy to see teams open up academy programs and the like. :D
Even though 'i c wut u did thar' with 'root' and 'seed', naming it SEED just makes me think someone is a FF8 fan haha.

I saw this and went ahead and followed the players twitter accounts. ROOT is so very good at raising people's stream popularity. Good luck to the players It sounded like they have real opportunity to join ROOT if they keep improving! edit to the above: yeah, everytime I see SeeD in some shape or form I think of that game. My childhood T_T soooo good...

Just like in real life, it's all about what connections you have. That's why i think your post is a bit naive.

Players under 18 have a lot of legal problems competing and generally have to deal with not being their own master (parent's interfering) so they can't deadicate themselves to improving, despite having the drive.
However, I'm sure ROOT knows wtf they are doing and have found young'ins that are exceptions to this and will be awesome.
Cool initiative guys, gl gl gl! :D

Actually this is a good idea, i think they should open another academy called SPORE for 5 to 10 year olds with diamond as minimum requirment.

Doesnt sound like theyre giving the guy money or anything, the biggest aspect is having higher quality opponants to play against and give feedback. Who cares if they want to help their friend?

So you have to be 13-14 years old to be in the SEED academy?

At what point are they just too young? I'm not sure we should be recruiting SC2 players before a certain age
