Of course I got a message from Barrin to post and while I am doing so it's more because I saw the thread then any pm. Honestly I'd rather just play something more current for balance if you want Uo but if you are in dire need for a UO fix IPY isn't a terrible choice. Just note that Ipy4 will eventually be a thing that exists as it seems to be a trend.

I feel I should inform readers that (afaik) UOSA is currently the second most popular UO shard (of pre-aos eras?), behind UOForever; both of these shards are expected to take a massive population hit as everyone goes in for the IPY3 rush (even loyal UOF players might have fun with it, be honest). I'm sure a lot of you have played MMO's or persistent world games, if not Path of Exile; isn't it just hella fun starting over on a new server? I bet you it's nowhere near as awesome as a UO server restart. A quick skim indicated there's more important things to discuss, but I only want to discuss one more thing in this post. Yes, by making this thread and posting about it in the previously linked www.inporylem.com public thread, I entered into a contest to potentially win a server-unique Dull Copper Ankh Necklace (and I guess it looks like I'm winning in the quality department which was the only criteria for the competition). Regardless of how good the OP is, everyone who makes an OP on a decent site is promised a Valorite Ankh Necklace (blessed). Additionally, as their facebook page indicates and as Az starts the Dull Copper necklace competition thread mentioning, everyone who logs in on the first day of launch also receieves a Silver Ankh Necklace (blessed). There will be plenty of people playing IPY3 who don't show up on the first night to get Silver necklaces; last time these necklaces went for 10-25k in the first several months (I think you can get 1 for each of your 3 accounts btw). The Valorite necklaces will prbly go for about 25-75k. The server-unique Dull Copper necklace will go for anywhere between 10k in the first few days, 50-150k in the first month or two, to maybe eventually 200-500k+ when everyone gets rich and someone desperate really wants to show off. I'm kind of pulling numbers out of my ass at this point btw, and to repeat it's not guaranteed that I will even recieve this Dull Copper necklace. Let me be absolutely clear about the fact that I would have made a thread about this here regardless of the competition. I'm pretty sure I publicly mentioned (on inporylem.com) that I planned to even before he announced the competition, though I don't particularly care to check. However, in the spirit of transparency and honesty, the competition did increase the amount of time I decided to spend researching/writing/formatting OP by roughly 50% (8-10 hours total, I'm slow I know shh). I am sorry if my choice to not mention the Dull Copper necklace in the OP (I did have in the back of my mind to encourage you guys to go get your own Valorite Necklaces, it's actually getting a little late now that I think about it, but it's not too late!) comes off as shady in any way. My apologies. But you know, and I know, and you know I know O.o that this competition is public, as in everyone with internet access can see it. The possibility that someone might try to "call me out" on this is/was not on my list of worries, I assure you. As the length of my time spent writing about this should also indicate, I am perfectly comfortable with people knowing about this. I really don't have much to hide... which was kinda why I didn't really fit the mold as a Banling (moderator) on this site (they probably don't even want me mentioning this, or that lol), which I was for like 2 years. Um, yeah, becoming a banling is a feat in itself; I've paid my dues to this site bro. I authored one of the most read articles criticising SC2 (which I kinda regret btw but never got around to writing about), and I can still go into games and be occasionally recognized (it's much rarer now tbh) if not for those things then as a (past) mapmaker. I've literally spent hundreds of hours contributing to this site, let alone thousands browsing; I am no stranger. I'll tell ya what, IF I happen to receive this Dull Copper Ankh Necklace that I spent a couple extra hours making this OP look prettier for a chance at, I will do a binding majority vote of all TL players confirmed to be playing (including you, if you play) approximately 1 week after release to decide the fate of the Dull Copper Ankh Necklace, the proceedings of which if we decide to keep/sell I claim at least 51% ownership of. IF I happen to receive it. Is that fair? Regardless, the #1 reason I made this OP is to inform a community that I feel I belong to of an opportunity for what I genuinely think will be an awesome experience in another game. The #2 reason is to encourage as many people as possible to play on said game (higher population enhances the experience). The Dull Copper Ankh Necklace is only the #3 reason, and it's not why I made this OP, it's only partially why I made it so well It seems to me that perhaps you're just looking for any bad thing to say to make UOSA look better. Turns out I have a few ~3 year old accounts on UOSA, I was probably practicing on that server in preparation for IPY2. I just poked around again for a bit and was not unimpressed by the era-accuracy that UOSA is known for. I was greeted by a nice lady who seemed a bit excited and with another person or two we made a party at the garden for a few minutes as I inquired about the server. There was an afk person or two at the bank, someone was voluntarily being res-killed for some reason, and a few more people doing their thing too busy to talk. The consensus seems to be that UOSA, even though it is in a bit of a lull and doesn't pull the highest numbers anyway, is a great server to make a home on. Personally I'm a UO:R guy which is just after T2A (the Second Age), and I don't really like playing on non-UO:R era-accurate shards with slow skill gain, but that's just me. UOSA is currently running at about 300, never quite 400, simultaneous clients. That's expected to drop dramatically for the first week/month of the newest competing shard, which is no random shard mind you but one that keeps pulling 2000+ simultaneous clients. If IPY3 happens to flop (I don't think it will), I would be happy to join you in recommending UOSA. But again lets be honest, there's plenty of people who have a home on UOSA who are planning on giving IPY3 a chance for a week to a month or so. I am of course willing to talk more about the merits of both shards, but let's face it, IPY3 is undoubtedly the flavor of the month at the very least. Slightly less than 5 days til launch! I'm really excited to share this experience with you guys again.. but I guess it's too early to start talking about a guild eh? Az, shard owner, is currently doing an AMA (started ~2 hours ago) on inporylem.com, btw. He might continue taking questions until launch if you miss it. edit: Just note that Ipy4 will eventually be a thing that exists as it seems to be a trend. As linked to/mentioned in the "What Is In por Ylem 3?", Az has resolved to dedicate the rest of his UO admin time to IPY3. This is my last UO server. I won't be restarting anything. My programmers are committed to seeing this out for the long haul with me. They've said so, and I believe it. We will aim to create a better product with time and keep you guys happy on IPY 3 for as long as we possibly can. I can't tell you what the future holds. Life is life. But we're very committed to making this a long term success. That's the best I can tell you.

IPY3 launch date has been delayed from the 10th to the 31st! IPY3 will now launch on January 31st, 2014. Az speaks: IPY3 Delay --- Or… “Pushing Back (Sorry!), And What We Want To Accomplish” (Again) So history is repeating itself... This is an important message from myself to all of you guys, and I hope you take a moment to consider it. All of this isn't an exact science, and we can only get as much done as we're humanly able to in a given period of time. Setting a launch date is really an educated guess situation. You can decide you'll (probably) definitely be ready by a certain date, but it doesn't always quite work out like that. Most commercial games just launch anyway and you end up without perhaps the quality you were expecting. We have no such commercial pressures on us, luckily. IPY 2 was scheduled to release on January 21st. On January 17th, the release date was pushed back to the 11th of February. It went on to be incredibly successful. The same can and will happen here. Above all this time around, we're committed to the quality of your experience. Your initial experience is extremely important. We really want to get that right. Everything is about those first few weeks! So there are several reasons that I've decided the 10th is not going to be ideal for us.
You're disappointed because you love Ultima Online and you really want to play IPY. Like, right now. But remember that it's better to be a little disappointed now and end up with a great experience later than to have me stick to my guns and launch before I think we're ready. Also remember this is a hobby for us and a game for you guys. It's supposed to be fun! Try not to take it too seriously, try not to let a bit of disappointment over a game cause you too much angst. Trust me, if it's difficult for anyone to say that, it's difficult for me. I feel likeif I can say it (as the fellow responsible for this server and probably the guy most stressed out about any of this), it's probably good advice for everyone. Second of all, this is IPY. I remember being rather distressed over the IPY 2 delay. A certain player reassured me: "If they're going to play this month, they'll play next month. Everyone knows about IPY, and Ultima Online is an old game. Its fans aren't going anywhere within the next few weeks." It's not untrue now, and it wasn't untrue then. IPY 2's launch was incredibly successful, not at all affected by a little extra time in development. Except perhaps positively. Regardless, I do regret this unfortunate decision had to be made. However, I personally feel as though we're doing important things with the extra time. This time I'm convinced that we're much further along in the shard's development. I think IPY 3 is, right now, much cleaner and more polished than IPY 2 was at this stage. Actually.. I know it is. So what I need from everyone now is support for IPY. Trolls will troll, but they'll always do that. It's okay. This isn't what I'm concerned about. What we need are our true supporters to continue supporting and stay strong for what will inevitably be a better outcome. Those are the people I'm concerned with. I understand this is a tough decision, but we're committed to quality. Both programmers are professionals and have worked their tails off on this shard. What we're going to have here will be a great thing, and I truly hope every one of you will stick it out with us and have an amazing time on IPY 3. Our final launch date, no matter the circumstances, will be: January 31st, 2014. In Por Ylem 3 will be the greatest UO experience in the world, and it'll be in part due to this delay. We hope to see you there.

IPY3 Beta 3 So as promised, we'll be adding some accounts for beta 3 due to the delay. If you'd like an account, PM Az. I'll be adding accounts tonight, tomorrow, and even the next day. Mostly what you want to do is BRIEFLY explain why you'd be a good beta tester. Older forum accounts get priority here, as always, but there's some room for newer folks of course. This is a cool opportunity if you think you might play the shard for a while, but only recommended to those who have past experience with UO.

It's kind a stretch to switch from releasing a new shard to completely shutting everything down LOL

On a brighter note, he supposedly gave all the code to some of his gm's and they are going to release a shard of their own. They were calling it "An Corp" from what I read before. That's just what I remember.
