Holy shit yeah, I was so pissed off when Cat and Robb died. Cat's life in particular is so tragic it hurts. First off her favorite son becomes a cripple at the age of seven and then her husband gets her head chopped off and then she thinks Bran and Rickon are dead when they're not and right before she was about to die she was convinced that all of her children were as good as dead when only Robb was only one actually dead. I was hanging on to the hope that the Starks would win and the family would finally be reconciled but then the treacherous freys murdered her. And then she resurrects as a merciless zombie and Arya is fucking blind and Sansa is married to Tyrion and Bran is crippled and Rickon is probably gonna grow up to be a serial killer because his childhood is so fucked up because of the war.

I didn't mind. Catelyn seemed like a stuck-up, self-righteous and selfish bitch most of the time. The Northerners are backwards and stupid. Sansa is a spoilt brat, I lol'd much when all her dreams came crashing down between her ears. Arya and Bran are doing fine - Arya's blindness is probably just a phase of her training, and Bran is going through a fine character building through adversity thing.

Totally agree on the Sansa bit... that bitch needed to get got. I really hope Arya ends up a fucking Jedi Master who just massacres anyone in her way. Arya rocks.

Where did you get this blind Arya? I don't remember. But it's been a while.

If I remember correctly, Arya went blind after drinking a milk given to her by her instructors - she just woke up blind the next morning. It was sort of a punishment for killing a man, so I'm not sure whether it's just a phase in training or permanent state for her now.

The part with Cat resurrecting as a zombie or whatever is just strange though. I sort of wished she'd be done with when she got killed, but no.

Agreed on Sansa needing to get some dreams crushed. She was so horribly annoying to begin with that a good slap in the face does her good.

I ceased reading SOFI recently. I agree that killing main characters was nice change from your usual books, but GRRM has gone a bit overboard with it, killing every single character I liked - Nooooooooooooo... Tywin... - besides Bronn, but he wasn't all that great and important either. So, as it is, I have no one to attach myself to and continue reading because I'm interested in their story (I like characters in stories, not 'the history of a country' ). The story needs a protagonist.
In other words, the series lack focus and are spread over too many characters and places which makes it painful to read at times.

Well, Jon is still doing fine albeit he is somewhat disconnected from realms internal conflicts. Yeah and Daenyrs too, I wouldnt be surprised in a slightest to see her unite kingdom under Dragons banner once again.

He is one the most brilliant minds in the kingdom, he is one of the most powerful lords, his daughter is a queen and his son is one of the best knights in the kingdom. His children commit incest, his youngest son is a dwarf, his son renounces his title, his daughter's a bitch and he dies on a toilet, killed by his own son.

In my opinion it adds to the realism of the book series. In real life, it's not always the 'good' guys who win, and real life is harsh. Especially when the stakes are as high as thrones and kingdom.

To put it into perspective, look at Tywin Lannister.

Also, you can't look at the book series as a battle between good houses and bad houses. Sure, we're more sympathetic towards the Starks as the story begins, but the Lannisters have a lot of sympathetic characters (Tyrion, Jaime). Look at it as a story of houses battling for supremecy, not as the story of the Starks.[/QUOTE]
