That's been obvious from the beginning of the series when you look at the best ninjas and see that they all trained together, or when you look at the hokages and see that they're all related. It would be boring to have a world where practice accounts for 100% of ability and there are no special powers that can be gained without practice. Then everyone will end up with roughly the same ability, and nobody will stand out. See: real-life martial arts.

Really? Madara's Sharingan is totally unique to anything we've ever seen. Besides, him and Itachi are long dead and were just revived temporarily. Well, the series started pretty okay, it's fantasy but nothing too crazy. Yes, characters should get stronger, but not DBZ style super saiyan.
The reason why the sharingan is so hated is because it's boring. Suddenly eye power > everything else. Tooooooo many abilities. Result? Who the fuck needs ninjutsu anymore. Naruto started with people having a wide diversity of images. Heck, even in the Naruto vs Sasuke fight, Sasuke used many variants of the Katon ninjutsu. Now, all he does is stare at people. |

+ Show Spoiler + Remember when the Leaf said they were going to take care of Sasuke? Remember when characters who used to be relavent were about to be relevant again? This is basically what I'm talking about. When Gai and Kakashi came on the scene, I was genuinely excited to see these two help out and resume their badass status. In the war, it was pretty cool to see Choji get really strong and shika's team to be back in action. What I'm trying to say is that it was really cool when the show was incredibly diverse with people using all sorts of different skills, with all of them being useful in their situations. To use the soccer example above, imagine if everyone had their own unique traits (strong kicker, great feints, fast runner) but then one guy had the power to teleport the ball into the net. I'm not saying that practice should mean everyone is on the same level. Remember, Naruto used to have people training and have their special powers account for their strength. Now it seems that their special powers just account for most of their strength. Someone brought up One Piece, and it's probably a good example of this. Everyone has their own special powers, but we can see that a lot of people are still relevant even if they can't change their body to magma or light. There isn't really one power that means you automatically win everything, which is exciting to see. I'm not claiming Madara is unskilled in every other area, but that's what he looks like now. Orochimaru vs the Third was exciting, even though they were all very highly skilled ninja. They all had their flashy jutsu, but you could enjoy that they could still fight without having only flashy jutsu. Again, it mostly comes down to one thing being so good that there's no reason not to use it (ball teleport power). I separated Kakashi from the four because he couldn't spam it. Orochimaru wanted the sharigan because, not only did it have strong techniques, but most importantly, he wanted a strong body and to be able to learn every technique (sharingan helps with that). Making use of sharingan is fine, but let's use another example: Itachi vs Sasuke. These two had sharingan, but that's not all they had. It was a cool fight seeing all the tech they had while still being able to fight each other evenly. I didn't mind Susanoo at that point because Itachi died right after, meaning that although it was imba, it was only imba for a bit and remained to make Itachi epic in memories. The Raikage still pressuring Sasuke even with Susanoo was really cool, because it continually showed that just because it's the sharingan, it could still be beaten. Finally, Sasuke's question. All Itachi had to say was "I wanted to do was avoid the bloodshed and save the village. So basically, instead of all of us dying, only a few of us would die". He never explained himself to Sasuke, instead saying Naruto will do it for me. In truth, if Itachi had come out and said exactly what you suggested, Sasuke would listen, because as I said earlier, Sasuke looks at Itachi like a god and would probably do anything he asked him to with a good reason. This post makes the most rational sense of things. I mean, given the fact that Kabuto here is using the second hokages technique (which we STILL do not know why it was origonally designed.) is well he learned from Orochimaru. The other techniques all get a background story to them and explaination as to why they exist.
Why do we not know what Edo Tenshi was ORIGONALY made for. Sure Kage bunshin(sp) isn't the most well explained thing but hell, it at least is something most shinobi can use in some form or another (just in Naruto's case...he can make hundreds - thousands).
So why not give us a lesson on Edo Tenshi.... -.-; |

^I think they will tell us how the technique works as soon as we go back to itachi because his part ended for now with him ordering kabuto to tell him how to end the technique.
I personally for one don't mind the over powered techniques because seeing the same stuff is worse than having people being op. |

It kinda feels like it's one of those that won't get an explaination. BUT! It could be that, the scroll which is now on the way to Sasuke..contains information about it? We really need to know what was on that scroll. Maybe it is something that is actually of relevance to Edo Tenshi.
Were talking about crap Orochimaru and the Second Hokage used now, and considering they are both well not so much the second, legends. Expect the unexpected random OP BS that people are crying about.
It all is ballanced as far as the 1% of top ninjas go. |

(Edo Tensei, guys)
I actually like how Kishimoto dealt with the Kabuto-Itachi-Sasuke fight. The only way for Kabuto to get out of the loop is for him to release Edo Tensei, "killing" Itachi in the process, and by that time Sasuke and Naruto will probably be going at it, leaving only a few things left to wrap up, namely Tobi and Kabuto, which we'll probably see Sasuke and Naruto deal with in a gigantic resolution that's been like six years coming. |

Any world in which Konoha Sennpuu is no longer relevant is one that I do not wish to experience. Fucking Rock Lee should be bossing everyone. Instead, he spends 95% of the series on crutches. He's the true hard-working ninja. Naruto is like some spoiled asshole who inherited everything from his parents and is hailed as the savior, a la Harry Potter, even though all he does is fking thumbs up people and throw kamehamehas.
They should just cancel Naruto and remake the series as Rock Lee: The Legend Continues. |

To be fair, Naruto also "inherited" the 9-tailed fox and its subsequent huge amounts of chakra. Still I woulnd't really call him spoiled as he carried a huge burden along with it, and has worked his ass off to learn most of his techniques like rasengan, sage mode, and... er yeah. |

Also, why are Lee and Gai not doing anything? You'd think the gates would be used to let them fight for a while at god level. |

That's like saying an 8 yr old has a really tough time driving the Maserati his parents left him and all the other kids hated him because he has such a sexy car, so he had to work his ass off learning how to drive it and we should all look up to him as a hero for doing so.

Well we can hypothesize all we want about who suffered the most and who has more merit, but a pillar of Naruto's manga is about the spirit / mental strength of this little kid who was born with a huge burden and powerful force. It is implied that any average ninja would've crumbled to the sheer social pressure he had to undergo. So everyone's recognition of Naruto as a hero is so much for his accomplishments due to his power as it is due to his unusual strong will. |

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to convey. I was just stating what I believe is the author's intention to portray Naruto as relentless and stubborn (in both positive and negative meanings) who overcame huge hardships remarkably (Gaara would be a similar case, but he didn't have the same strength as Naruto). It's like criticizing someone for their accomplishments because they were born wealthy. While many of the wealthy born have been successful only due to what they inherited, there are still deserved cases of talent and hard work. And Naruto would be the latter one, Sasuke probably being the frist type lol. You can't just dismiss him saying other people didn't get the same chance. Credit where it's due.

By the way, was it already explained why the whole Uchiha clan could mass spam Izanagi, which is said to be the ultimate genjutsu, without awakening the mangekyou sharingan? I see clearly something odd here:

I wish I could rewrite Naruto from the start and just have the guy draw it. I'd keep a similar story, except not fucking stupid like everyone has pointed out. It's the most disappointing manga of all time I think. It's OK; even if it's not really good it's enjoyable. But the world he put together has so much potential, and it's wrecked time and time again by stupid writing choices.
EDIT : And yes, you can make a teen-friendly story that is still amazing. You don't need blood,gore and tits to make Naruto an amazing manga. The whole Jump excuse doesn't work for me.Last edit: 2012-06-02 01:02:29 |

In other words, the author ran out of good ideas, therefore resorted to more and more ridiculous crap. Which is quite understandable (but not ideal) considering the series has gone on for 588 chapters. The mangaka is also on a tight deadline to think about ideas and draw the series. Basically, he can't keep up with his series. |
