On thursday the MSL continued with bo3 series for the losers from last week. To lose this week would mean the end of the line in the GOM MSL, while winning would keep hopes alive and set up a showdown with next weeks losers. Here are the matchups:
Group A
Hwasin vs Silver
Maps: BlitzX / Longinus II / Desert Fox
Group B
Nal_rA vs Xellos
Maps: Reverse Temple / BlitzX / Longinus II
Winner stays, loser goes home. Just like tetherball back in the day. As we did last week, here are the VODs of these games. I hope you enjoy.

+ Show Spoiler +Silver's muta harass was embarassingly bad, and his play was so standard it was painful. After doing no damage but expanding two more times, it was no wonder that Hwasin was able to rumble over him with a two base army and a constant stream of marines. No micro ftw!
Game Two: Hwasin vs Silver on Longinus 2

+ Show Spoiler +Again, Silver seems to think he is SaviOr with the drone whoring, but Hwasin's three rax took him completely by surprise. A cute firebat placement also helped.
Game Three: Nal_rA vs Xellos on Reverse Temple

+ Show Spoiler +rA showed his remarkable adaptaion and quick thinking this game, dealign with the earl bunker perfectly. He is the greatest. HEAR THAT ETTERSTYLE? THE GREATEST!
Game Four: Nal_rA vs Xellos on BlitzX

+ Show Spoiler +A gas steal, a fast expansion, and devastating reavers. rA showed just how awesome his adaptation was in the first game, when the second game showed how poorly xellos dealt with it.

Last weeks picture was a shot of the MSL Hall of Fame. However, this week's picture comes from in the game, where Hwasin showed the power of a single firebat (and his two hot nurse assistants).

Next week will feature the winners of last week going at it in a best of three. The winners of that set will move to the semi's, while the loser will go face life or death against todays winners.

Wow watching the second game between Nal_rA and XellOs made me want to throw up... not only because XellOs did arguably the worst job I've ever seen of countering reavers, but because rA lost three scarabs in a row to 100% retardedly unfair AI. XellOs did such a terrible job against those reavers that he deserved to lose literally every single SCV that he had. rA would've been much closer to accomplishing that feat had it not been for fucky AI. That shit is so annoying.

I am a Terran.
Even though Nal_Ra played much better it was so annoying to see how fucked up the Reaver AI is. As much as I like Terran race I think it doesn't fit Starcraft that one unit acts purely on luck. Especially on these amzing levels where one silly AI mistake can change the life of so many progamers... |
