| Can anyone else help me out trying to figure out why Sirius died? If I remember correctly the spell that hits him is described as a red stream, which is probably a stunning spell. Adava Kadavra(sp?) is green. Plust Professor McGonnagal(sp?) had just taken 3 stunners to the chest earlier. So why did Sirius die and she didn't. I really don't get it |

| I am by FAR not the only adult that reads Harry Potter, about 20 people up here (I am on summer term at college) asked me to borrow it once I was done. Anyone else read it here that can answer my question? Last edit: 2003-06-24 18:49:31 |

| I was under the impression it was because he had fallen through the arch, and it was not necessarily the spell that killed him. |

| ObtuseLogic is right, the spell is not what kills Sirius, when he falls through the Curtain of "death" is where he actually dies. I love the book : ) |

| I've read them both, and just because you think Harry Potter is i suppose "immature" or "stupid", that doesn't mean it isn't a good book. You are just a pathetic person who thinks the opinions of your peers about you will decline rapidly if any of them ever found out you laid a hand on a Harry Potter book. |

no, i would commit suicide if i allowed myself to
edit: quite honestly, i dont know much about the books, it was more of a joke. however, i saw about 5 minutes of one of the movies with my ex girlfriends little brother. it was fucking terrible. if i had to sit through any more of that movie i would have eaten my own arm off.Last edit: 2003-06-24 21:11:09 |

| adding to that, i have nothing against immature and completely fictional topics. i thoroughly enjoyed reading the hobbit and i liked the lotr movies. but watching 5 minutes of that movie was like pulling teeth. the worst part was, the little bastard got mad when i shut it off :[ |

Not to shit on your thread or anything but just because the issue has come up, I read the first book and part of the second and was totally appalled. That movie sucked shit too. I wish little kids would read good children's literature like Roald Dahl instead of this manufactured consumerist bullshit. T_T
Reading my post over, it looks as though I have indeed been a bit of an ass.Last edit: 2003-06-24 21:18:53 |

| I'm inclined to agree with rplant, I read the first book and it honestly wasn't that good. I'm not against that type of genre or anything, I think the silmarillion and the LotR series are amazing and Dune is also one of my favorites, but really Harry Potter just doesn't seem too amazing. |
