| It'd be lame if two players who chose very similar colors played each other. How would obs tell the difference in a mirror matchup? |

If you read most people suggestions, you'd see they want it toggleable for you, your allies, and your opponent. Obviously the observer would toggle to standard colors, or to ally vs enemy colors. |

I think it would be great to have have proleague teams all use the same colour sceme. Like if you know an MBC player because his units are white/red etc.
Also if progamers registered their colours at the start of a season and stuck to them, they are gonna switch it to red/green regardless, but itd be awsome to be able to tune in and within 3 seconds be able to work out whos playing who.Last edit: 2007-08-18 01:08:53 |

For what most of you are suggestion, blizzard would have to completely change the way the color units, from 1 to 2 identifying colors. On many of the models, there's hardly enough of the 1 color (viking comes to mind), so making it two would require a totally different model (or it'd be like 2 pinstripes of color). Blizzard seems to want the dominant color on many units to be the same for everyone, like the gray viking, golden carrier, etc., to give it a certain feel regardless of the player's color. If I remember correctly, Dawn of War units were really designed around this feature - allowing for two colors and insignia. Although it's a cool idea, and I liked having my university's colors and seal on my army, I don't think it can easily work in SC2.
Having 1 custom color would be trivial to implement, and I think that would be a good feature, as long as anyone can toggle it. It would be especially cool if you could custom your opponent too, so you could make him some fruity color and then demolish his pathetic light pink forces. |

I understand your points. DoW uints were all taken from the 40K tabletop game and so they were designed to have custom colors on all their units given that the minis were designed to be recognizable by shape in the first place. I also understand why blizzard wants the units to look uniform from game to game to help players recognize what units they are facing in a flash. but really given that the models are 3D now all it would take to add another color to a unit is to change the texture on one surface of the units model, really it's not that big of a deal. a simple two color pallet swap would not be that difficult implement.
but i want more. I want to paint a sharks mouth on my marines helmets. I want cool skin patterns on my zerg, I need to add glowing tribal tattoos to my protoss. of course other players could toggle this on and off when they play against me and maybe they could even have as much control over their enemies looks as i have over my own, building color sets that help them to recognize enemy threats even faster then the normal colors. |

Maybe if the insignias are taken only from the SC universe. So you could be the UED, Confederacy, Raynor's Raiders, etc.
Random smiley faces and numbers could be cool I guess, but then it gets too complicated when everyone starts using random stuff. |

it'd be cool if Proteams could have their units in their own team colors or logos
ie SKT1's units would be red and white, and their buildings would have the T1 icon on it
and when they played like OGN, they'd be playing a white-green-yellow colorscheme
that'd be awesome |

| I think that would be pretty cool, be like a Proleague match, and your 1v1 people choose red or white for SKT1, and your 2v2 team 1 is white, and 1 is red, so like teams pick colors to represent their team and their team players play with those colors all season or something. that would be pretty sweet =P |

Oh i see, that'd be great. It's like every progamer would have their unique color, and all the fans who opy their color lol! -__- that'd be funny, just imagine fangirls walking around with the color schemes memorized for all the progamers |

| Anyone else thinking of Homeworld, Homeworld: Cataclysm, or Homeworld 2? The had an AMAZING coloring system. You basically create 2 custom colors, like that color pic that keeps being linked, one is a primary color, and the other secondary. It effects things like unit trails (it's a space RTS) wing color, etc... I absolutely loved that feature, and if it can be duplicated, that would be amazing. |

very neat idea, wouldn't be hard to implement at all...
No, which is why Blizzard implemented it in the original Starcraft. You've never wondered why in progamer first person views the opponent is always red? Enter a game of bw and press shift tab twice. You'll notice that you become green and the opponent becomes red.
Uh, I obviously know that, or else I wouldn't have said what I said.
This way, I don't have to do the extra shit and tab twice during my first game. |

That was my first thought of it.
but you cant really zoom into the sc units as closely as you could with Homeworld 2 so its not as cool. |

| I dont see anything wrong with adding more customization as long as it doesnt hurt gameplay. I kinda like the idea of choosing colors like a primary color when you make a game(home) and using your secondary color when you join a game(away). Plus the addition of an alternate color for when your color and your opponents match. Of course theyd have to include the ability to just view normal colors according to players choices. |

| Blizzard did a good job in WC3 with allowing players to select a color. I think they could easily roll that over into SC2 and enhance on it. As for logos.. Boy, I think it would he really hard to do that. People would have to download a new skin of a unit every game because of the different logos we would see. Now if they were logos Blizzard already allowed into the game (UED, ConFed, etc) that won't be a problem but customized logos? It would be cool but it would cause too much downloading and you'd have to store it on your computer, just like the 50 million copies of LT in my map folder. (Right? or am I totally wrong about that?) |
