Update: GOM's proxy settings don't work. Don't bother with this.
Since GOM Player has little in the way of connection settings, it seems the only way to make things smoother is to find a good proxy server. Happily, support for SOCKS 4&5 is built-in.
There's no guarantee it'll work for you, especially if your ISP sucks, but it's worth a shot. I was able to watch a couple games on the high quality live stream last night, without any lag.
Using a Proxy Server for GOM Player
First, find a working SOCKS 5 server. Chances are, a South Korean proxy is your best bet, though others may be perfectly smooth. I'll add some links to proxy server lists at the end of this post.
Next, go into GOM Player's options (Click the bottom middle button or hit F5).
Now,
1. Click 기타/Other 2. Click 온라인/Online (in the English version it's under VOD) 3. Select SOCKS 5 4. Enter proxy server's IP 5. Enter proxy server's port 6. Hit OK
At this point you're good to go. Start up a VOD and see if it works. If it doesn't, or if it's laggy, find another server and try again.

Bump since people are whining in a live report thread.\
Hm.. actually this might not work, proxy IP doesn't show up in netstat. No idea why though.
|
And even if it would... it wouldn't be easy finding a hi speed low latency korean free proxy.
|
I had one working when I made this guide (using ProxyCap instead of the builtin proxy settings), so they do exist. It's dead now though. =/

mine's got sound but no pic anyone knows what to do? help !!

Does anyone know what ports I have to open for this?
I tried playing video, and I got a laggy video the first time. Now, whenever I try, I get this error: "Cannot connect to the streaming server. Make sure you are connected to the internet and you're not blocked by a firewall, then try again. Error code: 0x00000071"
I also tried a proxy but it gave the same error.

wow this is good stuff!

I also tried a proxy but it gave the same error. GOM's been doing that to me too the past few days. Problem's on their end, I think.

Oh, thanks for the reply.
Does anyone know why sometimes I get some Runtime Error or a korean error message when clicking the green button?

Gom´s been laggin like hell to me..
|
anybody have a working link to korean gomplayer?
|
The download link in the this thread http://teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?currentpage=1&topic_id=52741 is working.
GomTV is too laggy, tried to put it through some proxy servers - no success. It's either like watching a slideshow - one frame every 3-4 seconds or getting the same error as mentioned above (Error code: 0x00000071 bla bla bla)
Won't watch Bisu and Xellos live today T_T
Hope sc2.org gets back the live streams otherwise life is miserable ...

OMG THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH SONUV!!!!!
NO LAG AT ALL I LOVE IT
I had been having the laggy problem for a month and couldn't find a way to fix it . Should have done some research in tl

Hurray for the placebo effect. Updating the OP to reflect that this setting does absolutely nothing.
