i've played on highest settings (not my computer) with no delay and the game looks nice, doesn't affect my in-game performance.
right now i'm playing on lowest settings because my video card lags on higher settings and i want the game to run smoothly. then again i've always played games on lowest settings to improve performance.
so now i'm debating whether to buy a decent video card to play on high quality settings. so i just thought i'd throw out this random question to see what people are running the game at.
If you want it to look better, go ahead. I don't know of any differences that would affect gameplay. I'm not sure if you'd get any tangible advantages but it'd look prettier.

I play with everything maxed and it's perfectly clear. It's the same thing for anyone who isn't used to the effects. When I watch a dota team fight, even if I know what the heroes do, it's a clusterfuck. That's just because I'm not used to the effects.

Things become pretty clear in both games but you do have to wonder why HoN has some of the animations it does. The complexity of a creep death animation on ultra made me laugh the first time I saw it. There's simply more unnecessary animations in HoN than DotA's war3 engine.

Why doesn't engima/tempest ever lane in HoN? I've only seen a handful of competitive dota matches but it seems that Enigma has done reasonably well as a solo or support. :S Maybe it's because tempest is practically never played in HoN.

Because he needs to get portal key ASAP to actually be useful in teamfights, quickest way to do that as Tempest is jungling.

Enigma is stupidly good in DotA because he matches up well against any lane. He ties down a solo indefinitely because he can push with those Eidolons, enough to push down the tower. He matches up with tri-lanes because he can just camp tower and conversion his way to any items. His ultimate rips the shit out of BKB, and he just makes laning make up so easy.
NV.cn used that great effect to effectively punt the Enigma lane to at least keep pace with the game and dominate the other 2 through better match ups. If Enigma doesn't die, he'll get his dagger, if they try to gank the Enigma, they weaken their other lanes. In either case, it sets up very well for the mid game and creates a headache from a positional perspective.

This is unture, maybe not in recent times but 2 months or so ago laning tempest vs a dual lane or denying a farmlane character tempest was used quite a bit in competitive play. I couldnt remmeber any memeorable ones but he does quite well

Judicator is dead right. Usually the Chinese teams will put Enigma in a solo lane vs another solo, very rarely does Enigma not win the lane, similar to Broodmother, basically the tower gets pushed down easily, Enigma gets levels, and the solo can't do very well. I remember Dgc's Enigma on Scourge was kicking the ass out of longdd on Veno so ez. I don't think he's so godly against trilanes personally, but he'll usually be doing much better than the other side lane .
