It's a fucking Diablo game, guys. I have now lost all faith in humanity (even that last bit that was left after the whole PCGamer fiasco.)

Sure it can help show contrast, however they didn't do that, instead you go from bright forest to a bright blue/green lighted tombs that are smoother and cleaner than fresh poured concrete. It's about the insanely oversized and retarded looking armor/weapons I don't mind the outside being bright, their is a sun after all, however when unexplored tombs look like they have their own cleaning made service there is an issue. All the color scaling in the world isn't going to fix smiling statues or add dust covered floors and spiderwebs.

Guess what? In Diablo II, Act 2 was bright as fuck. The ant tunnels were also bright as fuck. Why are ant tunnels bright? Hell if I know!

"Diablo and Starcraft are the 2 games I like from Blizzard and its because of the gritty realistic graphics (along wih the game play). Warcraft seems to cheesy to me and I won't be playing D3 if it is all carttoony and childish looking. It's just not cool enough. We need the realistic looking rusted metal, lighting, normal sized everything and the classic / cool Diablo gothic / dark world / scenario that draws players like me to it." an so far there are 16890 Signatures Total sweet shit

Also, WHY THE HELL DO YOU WANT LIGHT RADIUS BACK!?! I remembered hating the need for light radius crap in D2 a ton. There is a reason that fullscreen light radius was a tacked on feature of plenty of mods and hacks. I know that whenever I was playing SP to test things out I would add as much light radius to items as I could since it was just annoying to not be able to see a few feet away from your character. Honestly, I like the look of D3 so far for the most part. It could use a bit of tweaking to increase the contrast, but overall pretty nice. Especially the outdoor screenshots, the colors look a bit washed out. I'd like the bright stuff to be really vibrant (spell effects, shiny stuff, etc) and the shadowy areas to be significantly dark. Some of the "improved" screenshots just seem to make everything darker and grainier which I don't really care for.

If you know exactly what is coming at you, where is the surprise factor that makes a game called "Diablo" worth being named "Diablo"? The nightmarish effect of this series comes from surprises, scariness, vulnerability, hopelessness and all that, and where do you think all this comes from? Correct: from darkness. Everything in this game should be centered around that basic idea of having nightmares coming at you especially when you least expect it. You should not feel safe, you should feel exposed and threatened all the time even if you actually aren't. Have you ever played Resident Evil? That's what I'm talking about.

Pretty much...I'm waiting for at least a beta before taking any complain seriously. Not EVERY Single part of Diablo 2 was dark either. I'm sure they'll have portions that are like the durance, catacombs and act 4 of D2. People are going crazy because a couple of screenshots taken in ONE area are a little too bright.

big, oversized, insane weapons are true to this fantasy genre. Um, no. FF and WoW do not compose "fantasy."

It's like all people complaining SC2 was going to be total shit only because the mothership was such a baller, after the first movie came out. Learn to have some faith in Blizzard & stop thinking rereleasing a game that has been released 8 years back would still do just as good as it did back then. Games are evolving and you have to keep up with it, or even better, keep ahead of it. Even though some of the screens in the petition look great, we've only seen such a minor part of the game. If the whole game is going to be as dark the edited screens suggest the game should be, the game would look pretty boring and unattractive to the big public. Who's waiting for another D1 or D2? Only the real fan Diablo fanboys that are still playing D1/D2 non-stop to this date... You have to be open to change though. D3 will be different, whether you like it or not, in a same way SC2 will be different from SC1. You know what sucked about D2 (imo)? Having to put up the brightness way too high to be able to see the details that blizz put in the game. I totally support the quote on kotaku.com: “One of the things that we considered when we were working on the visuals for ‘Diablo III’ is the fact that color is your friend. We feel that color actually helps to create a lot of highlights in the game so that there is contrast. A great analogy is like in ‘Lord of the Rings’ — not everything is dark. It allows you to see what a creepy dungeon can be like but if everything is dark it doesn’t allow you to have a lot of contrast.” It'd be boring as shit if the whole game, that would be so many times bigger than D2, would be as dark as in the suggested screens. We've seen 2 locations so far.. Just because we've seen these 2 doesn't mean there won't be any dark locations as we've seen in the earlier games. Just look at how everyone is reacting to the edited screens.. It's exactly what Blizzard is pointing out. Color is your friend. Just wait until one of the locations we've seen so far will bring you in one of the more darker ones. It adds so much more. I'm not signing any petition until I've seen more of the game. I totally trust Blizzard into making this a great game. I actually expected people to complain about the 'plainness' of the game, because it seemed very D2'ish with a new coating. The game needs to be way more customizable than D2. People want to make their own characters with a personal look. Also, even though the point of hack and slash is just clicking and seeing your character being bad ass, I think for the game to be succesful D3 needs to be way more in depth. Just pointing and clicking and throwing out some spells shouldn't be making you get through the game that easy. Even though this doesn't apply for D2 HC mode, it pretty much was like that for the regular game. Anyways, it'd be stupid to draw all these conclusions just from one teaser we've seen so far (it looked to me that the characters they used were way stronger than they probably really are going to be, just so they could show you the game anyway). I'm sure Blizzard will make sure the game will be another epic game.

But some people are totally missing the point of this issue. The fans are not against colors and cartoonish characters. The fans are against calling this stuff Diablo. You want to make a colourful and cheerful game? Very good, call it Super Imba Zombie Smasherz or something. But if you are going to call it Diablo, this better be Diablo. Please read this passage, "Then it started to go wrong. We began encountering these, these dark...things...imps or demons...or fallen, I think they're called. There were so many of them, all horns and flashes of red, attacking us from all sides. I don't think you could ever really be prepared for something like that. We got disoriented, which was easy to do. It was so dark.... And then we heard this...this horrid voice that I can only describe as the sound of a saw ripping through bone. "I can't even recollect what he was saying. I was so terrified I don't think I could understand it, but he kept repeating it, over and over." The adventurer shuddered at the remembrance. "He was this bloated thing...and ...and there was blood, and bodies – everywhere I turned, some new horror confronted me. And suddenly he was on us; we couldn't shake him. Jeremy fell first, and then I ran. I admit it: I ran, left my fellows to die. I couldn't face that thing; it was all just too horrible. He hit me with a glancing blow as I fled, but even that was enough to take my arm almost clean off." and tell me - does this place look like it is described? This is supposed to be the very same place!
