Welcome to the Teamliquid Fitness Initiative!

Alrighty, we've all made our new years resolutions, whether we're planning on losing weight or bulking up. I know everyone is excited and you've convinced yourself that this time you're definitely not going to quit. There is one problem everyone shares and is the reason you'll probably give up again this time around. A lack of motivation. If anyone has read my fitness blogs you'll know that I lost over 50lb in less than a year, that was only achievable because I was well motivated to do so. Motivation my friends is king.

So why am I posting this thread? It is a lot easier to achieve your goals if you know you're not alone, If you're serious about achieving your goals, I would like you to post them in this thread. I will then follow up on everyone every couple of weeks and post your progression as well as mine, hopefully this will help motivate you.

Teamliquid will be your silent accountability partner. Anytime you feel like grabbing a chocolate bar instead of a piece of fruit, or are feeling too lazy to go to the gym or go on that run you'll be able to refer back to your accountability partner and do the right thing instead!

Resources
-------------------

Please PM me if you have any resources to add or if you would like to offer your services.

BodyperformanceTV - YouTube Channel

Steve has hundreds of small 2-3 minute videos on his channel, I sat down and watched them all, a lot of helpful tips, he really breaks things down into simple steps that make the whole process a lot less daunting.

Scoobysworkshop - YouTube Channel

Scooby specialises in home workouts, if you can't afford a gym membership or would rather workout at home, he has fantastic workout techniques you can use in the comfort of your own home, as well as a few great videos covering diet and nutrition.

Bodybuilding.com

This website has everything else you'd need to know about your fitness goals, from Diet & Nutrition to Exercise and Workout Plans.

T-Nation

Awesome articles, no bullshit. Every writer on the site knows what they are talking about. - Yogurt

Crossfit.net

I think this is a perfect source of easy to follow exercises, daily routine in fact. Should work whether you want to lose or gain weight, if the aim is maximizing functional fitness (it won't help you get heavyweight bodybuilder-huge or Kate Moss-thin though, which is a good thing imo as they are not the most healthy fitness-examples). There is also a comprehensive list of exercises along with videos etc. - Antiq

Sparks People

This is a free website that has workout videos and workout routine schedules, meal planners and recipes, and weight, measurement & calorie trackers, etc. - Lyll

Iron Addicts

Iron Addict is an online personal trainer and is regarded as one of the best in the bodybuidling world. Besides online fitness training by telephone and email, there is a great amount of available forums from members and iron addict himself which help in more advanced areas of bodybuilding. This site is very useful in the terms of cardio, nutrition, supplements, weight lifting technique and weight lifting routines. - CultureMisfits

Goals
----------

When setting a goal for weight loss or weight gain, it is crucial that you give your self an arbitrary deadline this will increase your motivation 10 fold. Upcoming real life events are also very helpful in motivating you.

Do you have a trip coming up? Visiting friends you haven't seen in a long time? I found that setting two major deadlines for myself, one was my trip to Thailand the other my European trip really put my butt into gear, I was visiting the gym every single day the week before my flight to Europe.

Deadline does have significance.

I'm most adept at cycling or rowing for this purpose, but I don't have access to an erg and cycling in cold ass weather is suboptimal.

Currently trying to fix my running form b/c I've come to the realization that the way I land on my feet (usually heel first) is really terrible for distance running.

Hmm this sounds like a good idea. I'm hella skinny, I'd like to build some muscle before this summer. I've been hella lazy over the holidays, too .

Same here... I've been underweight all my life, I think its to do with never having set meal times :/ what times does everyone usually eat?

Hmm...I'd care more about getting rid of a little beer belly than losing weight. I'd rather gain muscle and have a leaner shape than lose overall weight.

Really though I just want to be in shape for the half-marathon I will be doing in a few months. I am pretty sure I could finish at this point, but I would like to get a good time ;p

That "Home workouts" video is good but, what do you do if you don't have a pull up bar in your house?

Use a tree, or a clothes line. You could also go down to the park and use the monkey bars. Alternatively you can buy a pull-up bar that slots in between your doorway. $15-30

I plan on cutting down my alcohol consumption, I don't think I will go cold turkey again this time. Start eating a lot more often but start eating healthy. I also plan on switching my weights/cardio ratio and start doing a lot more cardio until I get to my goal weight, at which point I'll start bulking again.

majority of runners, elite and otherwise, land on their heel in distance running. don't sweat form too much.

good luck everyone, try setting one or more intermediate goals to monitor your progress and make sure you're keepin' on track!

You know I actually lost like 14-16lb because I quit drinking for 3 months, I don't think I was even doing any exercise in that time.

I lost twenty pounds during my grade 11 year, I stopped drinking soft drinks, and I think that's all I did lol.

Five cans of coke a day wasn't that great of an idea...

Starting Date: Basically now.
Goal Date: Before summer :D

I want to get more muscular right now, I am not fat, but I am not as tone as what I should be. My main goal is to have a six pack before the summer. I hate jogging though, right now I basically do a lot of upper body should stuff, which does not help my abs get larger, or my stomach to get slimmer, so that you can see my abs.

Life is hard <3, but gotta try.
