Listened to the first 4 minutes of the first song, and it's definitely different than anthing else I've ever heard. Sounds like it's good music to relax to, but normally I enjoy music with a little more pulse in it.

Get the 2002 "( )" album (no real title I think - just the form of the graphic on the cover). I think it's their best. The genre is called Post Rock, you'll find many similar bands when you look it up.

Yes Sigur Rós is really great. Listen to their albums "( )" and "Takk" My two favorites all time is Untitled#1 (Vaka) Which also has one of the greatest videos ever imo. + Show Spoiler +
I really love how they (the directors I assume) transfer the feeling in their music into their videos. When watching their videos I often find myself just sitting with my mouth open and enjoying.
As stated before the genre is called Post Rock and other bands that are really great are Explosions in The Sky and 65 Days of Static. Check them out!

I likeit at first glance but i think its overrated in my country. It feels like its a bandwagon on which i can jump on or not. I really don't want to be with an group and all saying: we love this and that. cos i listen to any kind of music.
IMHO they are to mainstream nowadays

I also think they're a bit overrated, the main problem I have with them is that their stuff gets old rather quickly. Also, other post rock bands are really VERY similar but get no attention at all. Or some Ambient stuff is also quite similar. Still an amazing band, of course.
Great band, I would recommend Untitled (), not their most accessible album but my favorite nevertheless. It grows on you, like all great music should. Takk and Agaetis Byrjun are also fantastic albums, and also Hwarf-Heim is pretty good though haven't listened to it enough yet.
Sigur Ros is great, their music been in a lot of trailers for movies recently. I personally recommend () or Agætis byrjun. Takk is the easiest for beginners to get into. Their newest album they changed style the most, not as depressing.

They are really good post-rock band. Very unique. I think I like them and Pelican most of all. I actually posted in a thread titled "Your favorite band in 5 years", and I got Sigur Ros. lol
