There were some topics about messed up colors in StarCraft under windows 7.
But i have other problem. Starcraft just crashes in my machine. I can play 5 minutes or an hour, but it always crashed after some time, so i have to shut down my pc and reboot.

Does anyone have similar problem? How it can be solved? Please, help.

Have you been living under a rock?

Next OS after Vista

Although it's more of a Vista upgrade

Upgrading perhaps wasn't your smartest move.

My advice, downgrade XP/Vista

The only feedback I've got from people who already got that on their PC's is that it's crap and nothing seems to work on it.

My one and only love remains Windows XP.

Oh and sorry for derailing, but I can't really help you. Best advice I have is to get XP as a second OS.

I start Starcraft with Windows XP compatibility settings, setting up all the tips there (256 colors, 640x480, disabling all features, etc). Starcraft starts ok, i join iccup or west, can create and join games, everything is ok, even colors are ok. But when i play, in the game, all system crashes and i can't even reboot, or alt+tab, or ctrl+alt+del. It just stops everything. All i can do is to switch off my computer and then switch on.

I can't set up XP because there are only Vista drivers to my graphics card. I have laptop, and this card doesn't support XP

I've gotten the exact opposite actually.

Most of the geeky nerds that have installed it in their comps, have said that it's faster and it's filled with good new features. Also, since the last release it's just as Release Candidate, I wouldn't expect things to work all the time.

Geforce 9500M GS.
I googled some pirate drivers, but afaik officialy it doesn't support XP. Anyways, i though, if it will be some way to play Starcraft under Windows 7, cause it looks great, and this bug is its only weakness.

would you mind to share the exact settings you're using on windows 7 for BW? Because I've done the same as you, changing to 256 colours disablingall the features and etc but still the colours are so fucked up when I launch BW. That alone has turned me off to try out the so-called one of the most promising windows to be launched.

Open the screen resolution window and let it stay open when you launch BW.

To avoid crashes you might want to shut certaint things down, as some processes seem to conflict with the old old engine of SC.
So shut down Winamp, and various other things that may use your wave output - such as flash videos in your browser or other flash content.
Also, Chrome fucks it up big time.

There is a bug in Windows 7 with an old draw mechanism. I don't remember the exact details, but I do remember it occasionally will mishandle a piece of memory (not properly locking it beforehand IIRC). My father works at Microsoft and has been trying to figure out what it is/get the bug team to fix it by release.

Unfortunately the only away around it is to not run Starcraft in Windows 7. Either by playing through a VM or dual booting with XP.

I set Win XP under VirtualBox, and everything seems ok, bw doesn't crash anymore. But in runs in a small window, not in fullscreen, even if i start virtual machine in fullscreen, starcraft isn't stretched but runs in x1 size (640x480) in a center of screen.
Don't know how to deal with it.

Just tried and set Virtual Machine with Virtual Windows XP.
And Starcraft doesn't run there at all! Error with video resolution, can't set 640x480 256 colors.
So bad

I hope windows 7 is a success. I always thought Vista got a bad rap for no reason. After serice pack 1 vista became solid as a rock. I build this computer in January with windows vista x64 and it has yet to crash on me, or fail to be able to run a program. If windows 7 is an improvement it will be an awesome OS.
