| I play with ~25% hit sound (can still hear it, but it's really faint) and I think it helps me line up the beats with the music better than with it (too distracting) or without it (no feedback that you're clicking at the right time). |

Agreed. Streams suck. I just skip any beatmap with long streams lol. Seeing "300 300 300 100 300 50 50 50 miss miss..." really sucks. Especially when I'm only clicking with 1 mouse button (if I use 2 buttons, everything gets messed up).
Streams are AWESOME.
STREAMS SUCK, JUMPS RULE

Playing without hitsounds is hard. Some maps have small sections with quiet/no hitsounds, always throws me off terribly.
I can agree with AR9 sucking. |

My "Effect" slider is very low, because hitsounds bother me. They're kinda useful sometimes, but when I play rhythm games, I want to hear the damn music, not sounds triggered by my playing (Barring IIDX and O2jam). I'd be perfectly fine with no hitsounds at all.
Also, Jumps and Streams rule, and so does AR9!

Yeah idk how people play without hitsounds
Maps with really quiet sections or hitsounds that blend in too much with the song throw me off so badly |

ebacho is too powerful for me to beat also that map is retarded to play with hdhr because of the stack leniency... also because the map sucks

| That has to be total hits, and not plays. That, or you played ~100 maps per minute for 9 hours. Last edit: 2012-05-02 14:52:45 |

| My play count isn't even at 12k since I began in early July...but if you spammed retry like a baws I'm sure it is possible to play a song 100 times a minute o.O |

100 times a minute is hitting retry 1.6 times a second... That would be 9 hours of JUST spamming retry every 0.6 seconds.
Now, if it was hits, 53 476/ 9 hours = roughly 99 per minute, assuming nonstop gameplay. 99 hits per minute, for a 3 minute song is 297 notes per 3 minute song, which for a really easy 5* sounds pretty close to accurate.
EDIT: Maths, I has them.
EDIT2: Did I get better at jumps or something? I nearly doubled my pervious score and passed this nofail (D second time trying...
Also, maps by that mapper are fucking crazy. And fucking brilliant, as far as stupid hard maps go.

I can't seem to get past Normal into Hard. Suggestions would be highly appreciated on efficiency. I'm currently using Mouse instead of the Z/X setup. Is it just lots of practice? I love this game, but it's so friggin hard.

Your play count is 36.
This game is almost purely practice. You'll get better the longer you play. Expect to be at ~500 plays when you start getting into harder hards/easier insanes. |

Okay thanks. When I started playing DDR I was A/AA'ing 9 Foot Heavy songs after 1 month, so I just assumed it would transfer over. |

When I started playing osu!, I was failing 3 star beatmaps. Took me like 50 retrys to complete it with a D rating. After ~500 plays, I started to be able to do 4 star beatmaps. After ~3000 plays, I could finally complete 5 star beatmaps. It takes a while to learn to click to the beat, and so be able to sight-read beatmaps.

Play maps with high user ratings, preferably at least 9.3. Some of the lower-rated maps have quite poor beatmap layouts or are poorly timed. |

| The rating of a map means like...nothing. For practice maps it depends on two things, which area you want to focus and how good you are right now. The streaming compilation is nice for streams (or any of yeahyeahyeah's maps), as for jumps there are plenty, just keep downloading and you'll find one that suits your style. Of course, I'm sure someone will eventually point you to some appropriate maps, but at your skill level just playing any map will probably help you improve. |
