After discussing half way about K-ON, discussions got lively but the thread title restricted the discussions due to it being 'off-topic'. Hence with a name change, these are the new rules:
- STRICTLY NO NARUTO/BLEACH/ONE PIECE. Too much of that. Find their individual threads. - One topic at a time - Topics are not restricted by season (meaning you can talk about titles years ago, or what you hope from announced future releases, etc) - No trolling - No flaming - NO HATE POSTS EITHER (leave us alone if you hate anime, simple as that) - Be nice! And enjoy the lively discussions! - Add spoiler tags please!
And the golden rule: - DO NOT POST ANIME-RELATED STUFF (PICS OF YOUR FIGURES, NO HEAVY IMAGE MACRO, NO LOLIS, ETC) OUTSIDE OF THIS THREAD, AND NO HEAVY LOLI IMAGE MACRO/IMOUTOS/BATHING SCENES/NAKED SCENES/ETC IN THIS THREAD EITHER. FAILURE TO COMPLY = INSTANT BAN - (by order of FakeSteve and rest of the mods/admins)(However, it is okay to post images that aren't naked/hentai/tentacle rapes to relate to your text post. Just not too many images.)
K-On! (けいおん! Keion!?) is a Japanese four-panel comic strip manga written and illustrated by Kakifly. The manga started serialization in Houbunsha's seinen manga magazine Manga Time Kirara since the May 2007 issue, and also started a bimonthly serialization in Houbunsha's magazine Manga Time Kirara Carat since the October 2008 issue. An anime adaptation produced by Kyoto Animation began airing in Japan on April 3, 2009. The title of the series comes from the Japanese word for light music, keiongaku (軽音楽?). This is not to be confused with the western meaning of light music—a more accurate translation might be contemporary or pop music.
K-On!'s story revolves around four Japanese high school girls who join their school's light music club to try to save it from being abolished. However, they are the only members of the club, and at first Yui Hirasawa has no experience playing musical instruments or reading sheet music.
The first manga volume of K-On! was the thirtieth highest-selling manga volume in Japan for the week of April 27 and May 3, 2009, having sold over 26,500 volumes that week. The following week, the first and second manga volumes were the nineteenth and twentieth highest-selling manga volumes in Japan, having sold 23,200 and 22,500 volumes each the week of May 4 and May 10, 2009. As of May 2009, the first two manga volumes have each sold about 136,000 copies each. The single for the anime's opening theme, "Cagayake! Girls" debuted at fourth in the ranking on the Oricon weekly singles chart, selling approximately 62,000 copies. The ending theme "Don't say 'lazy'" debuted at second in the ranking, selling 67,000 copies.
K-ON! is a slice-of-life music-based comedy, if you haven't heard about it. Main focus is about their daily school lives, as well as their activities in their 'light music club', called 'Kei-on-bu', ranging from their instrumental training camps to live performances on-stage. Talk about anything related to K-ON! here. no extreme hate flaming thanks :3
There are 4 main (now 5, with Azusa's involvement, don't know if Ui really counts as a 'main character' ) characters in the show.
Yui is the guitar player of the Keionbu (Light Music club), the dunce airhead of the show with an IQ of 80 and acts mildly retarded. But she is cute (if you don't delve too much into the intellectual capability of her) at times, despite her rather overdose-of-moe appearance in the first 3 episodes. Like when she was rolling around for ice cream in episode 8 rofl.
Ritsu is the drummer, and what my friend told me, "With her ruthlessness and willingness to cheat, lie and manipulate to get what she wants, I was thinking she’d make an excellent lawyer or politician >=D". She is very cunning and witty at times, and is the central comedian of the show.
Tsumugi is the rich ojou-sama type of the show, with even the normal-est things being interesting to her. Like eating fast food. Her dad is rich, very rich, so it serves as a good excuse for the producers to add in interesting not-available-to-the-normal-people stuff like villas and over 50% discount on guitars. Characteristics involve her thick eyebrows and her love for yuri.
Mio is probably the character where everything moe is dumped on her. From her character of being shy of the cutest things to her silly actions that result in hilarity (like her rather bad ending of their first live concert involving her pantsu).
Lastly, we have the latest member (not including Ui, don't know if she can be counted as a 'main character' yet), Azusa. Not much is known about her, we'll probably get to know more about her in episode 9 (IT'S OUT BTW. I JUST HAVEN'T WATCHED IT )
So.. for those who have watched/are watching K-ON!...
Poll: Who is the best character in K-ON!? (Vote): Yui (Vote): Mio (Vote): Ritsu (Vote): Tsumugi (Vote): Azusa (Vote): Ui (Vote): Nodoka (Vote): Sawako-sensei
Poll: Best song so far? (Vote): Cagayake! GIRLS (Vote): Don't say 'Lazy' (Vote): Fuwa Fuwa Time (Vote): Tsubasa wo Kudasai (Vote): My love is a stapler
P.S: This guy is really good :3

People probably aren't talking about it much because it's a poorly animated moe-blob show that people have to wait 2 extra weeks just to watch in widescreen and they're all probably just waiting for new Haruhi, and since a new episode of that came out last week, they're still all jizzing themselves over that.
That said, yeah, I watch it, but its a guilty pleasure. I'd never admit to watching it in real life.

Azusa is probably gonna be my favorite tho not sure yet because of today's episode.
Haha nice wallpaper, is that from the ED sequence?
Azusa was so cute, instantly liked her when I first saw her lol, can't wait to see her in episode 9. Wondering what kind of role she will fulfill though. Maybe another role like how Mikuru fulfills her role as the model bunny girl in Haruhi? From a few pics I saw on /a/, she seems to be playing the guitar. Can a band have 3 guitar players? o.o
Also, from what I've read, it seems they edited the OP? By.. photoshopping Azusa inside?
And thanks to hot_bid for editing the OP and re-opening this thread . Will work on the OP a bit more because I promised Chill :o

I'll just copypasta from wikipedia, if you still don't understand I'll try to elaborate
Moe (literally "budding", as with a plant) is a Japanese slang word originally referring to fetish or love for characters in video games or anime and manga. For example, 眼鏡っ娘萌え, meganekko-moe, "glasses-girl moe", describes a person who is attracted to fictional characters with eyeglasses. "Moe!" is also used within anime fandom as an interjection referring to a character the speaker considers to be a moekko. It is even used in some anime, such as Ouran High School Host Club, Lucky Star, Kaichou-wa Maid-sama!, K-ON, and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. There are various interpretations of what moe is today. While some argue that moe is a pure, protective feeling towards a character, popular use denotes moe as an adjective used to describe any features of a character that particularly "turn on" the person, sexually or otherwise. The expanded use of the word has led to it being used to describe anything "hyper-cute" as well, such as the genre of anime-inspired music unique to Akihabara.
