Assume that people are playing things in Jap unless you see screenshots with English, because for the most part translation patches are like years after the release of the game. Either way, Blast pieces out information w/ kanji, Southlight and I read it in Jap (and to a certain extent, Kaal and Echo can too), the others are either reading English or using machine translations.
As for Corona, eh, turned out to be pretty average. Though I guess considering the crap that Eternal pushed out for their last like 2~3 games this is a huge improvement. Won't be surprised if Will cuts that subcompany at this rate =/ With schara sucking too, looks like all that's left in the SLG genre are Eushully and Alicesoft. So sad. |

| Are we allowed to talk about Eroges here? Or does that cross the line? In particular Im talking about Artificial Acadamy. I have that game installed and its somewhat poorly translated, I think they use google translator or something, which often results in broken english but I can still understand it well enough. She has 2 barrier break abilities, one does 1 from all enemies, another does all from one enemy. Read: lulz bosses wut? |

Thanks for the input everyone. I think I'll start with Planetarian as Southlight suggested since it's so short. Then probably Tsukihime since I've seen it mentioned here a lot every now and then. After that maybe LB; a little intimidating due to its length but sounds like the end will be worth the time although I'm not sure if I'll manage to finish it before break ends.
Also, mainly aimed at Ecael but if anyone else knows that's great: I just stumbled upon official Bungaku Shoujo novels in English. I never actually looked into it before, so it sorta surprised me at first, but I'm thinking of buying (or making my relatives buy them for me for Christmas) and reading them. Worth the money or do people translate LNs too that I can get online? Also, which/how much of the novel(s?) does the movie cover so I can either skip or scan through if it's one of the translated ones? Kinda excited to read about Nanase who you've mentioned is such a great tsundere

Well the BS unofficial translation project stalled/died after vol 1 whereas books are releasing at half year/book, up to vol 3 atm (soon 4 at this pace). Movie covers vol 5, which was epic, but you'll definitely want to read it anyway because the book is just so much better. As for worth money or not...well keep in mind you are asking someone whose disposable income pretty much just go to books, what do you think you are gonna get as an answer ./rolls eyes
LB isn't that long, besides, they didn't do Ex, they just did vanilla LB. |

I think my first LN was a really old one I found on fakku. The name is Divi-Dead the story was pretty interesting but the gameplay is horrible because you have to run around a schoolyard all the time to start new events T_T
after that I read Wanko to Kuraso, Clannad, Edelweis, KiraKira, a bit of Fate/Night, Yume Miru Kusuri, Sengoku Rance and Swan Song.
For beginners I'd say KiraKira is really good. It has a decent lenght, the story is good and it's not too extreme when it comes to the story. |

The English translation group just finished translating episode8 2 days ago and it is awesome.
You should definitely try reading it if you like VNs. It's infinitely better than the anime too, which was really pretty bad in comparison. v_v |

They finally finished ep8 after stalling for about a year? Geez. Well I guess it is closer to half a year actually, but still, they stalled for forever to the point that I thought the group was just gone. Now I can bug people to read it for awesome.

I mentioned Umineko last page, actually . Currently on Chapter 3, but somehow I managed to put it on hold, even though I was enjoying it.
General opinions on the episodes thus far, was episode 1 started kinda slow but eventually got really good. Episode 2 started the same way as episode 1, but start doing its own thing really quickly, and Beato was really fucked up lol. I think I'm about half way through episode 3, and it was nice and different from everything else, I just dunno why I stopped. But since episode 8 is out, I'll probably continue pretty soon. One of my good friends really likes Umineko, and was hyped about episode 8 coming out.
Speaking of Umineko, has anyone here other than me played that Umineko fighter that came out a bit ago? I first played it after only completing Episode 1, so I was like "who the hell are all of these characters?" when I played it lol. Now I recognize about half them, maybe a bit more. | i dunno how you guys can stand to read so many visual novels. its just reading a book with pictures in the background and music. maybe its cuz i set the bar too high by playing muvluv first and expecting everything else to have the same level of awesome, but every one ive read since then besides fsn has really bored me |

Ah, I skimmed through the last few pages and I didnt see, probably missed it, my bad. ^^
Yeah, the first few episodes are somewhat slow (doesn't mean bad though), but you're a the point where its starting to become pretty fast paced and incredibly awesome. The end of episode 3 is starting to get crazy and it keeps getting crazier and crazier.
To illustrate this, my favorite episodes are 8, 6 and 5, in that order lol. Just keep going, you won't regret it. ^^
The fighter games take characters from the first 4 episodes. I think there's a second one coming out in C81 that will add characters from episodes 5 to 8 as well. |

Some people like reading books lol. Muvluv is by far my favorite VN, so I kinda think its unfair to compare every other VN to it. |
