p4NDemik do you mind answering some questions about the banning system? Like recently you would say how many bans come from "hunts" and how many from reports? I don't think that answering this would show you relying on reports or you getting lazy or anything if that thought pops in your mind, isn't it all about the regular users of the community fighting alongside mods, which results in the community maturing further for the well being of all of us? 2nd question do you have the report threads section divided in "reports from general forum", "report from LR threads" and so on or is it all in one place? 3rd q is about how many successful reports does it take to become a banling? Is it a set in stone number, or some average successful reports per time or does the number of reports is shortened or lengthened by the attitude of the user submitting reports? In similar way I guess writing insightful threads/posts in the subforum from where most reports come from results in Admins recruiting a user to become a banling? Like Excalibur_Z for example. 4th how many of people with banhammer are girls? I know there is at least one... Who exactly decides if a user become a banling?
1) I wouldn't call the alternative to reports "hunts" really, it usually just comes down to moderating a thread you frequent very often. Like the GoT or TWD threads for me. I'm reading them so I'll enforce the rules while I'm at it. Because of the quantity of reports I typically go through in a week I'd say I average far more warnings/bans from reports than from my regular reading habits. Mainly because I simply do not read debates at length in SC2 threads, LR threads, etc and many times these are the threads where huge quantities of offenders reside. I suppose "hunt" is appropriate when there are malicious users out there and IP matching comes into play, but that is an even lower percentage of the total # of bans for me personally. 2) All in one place. Title of the report varies depending on the forum / reported poster, but they all end up in the same forum. 3) There is no set number of successful reports that gains staff's attention when someone is looking to add a banling. Composing good posts, being able to maintain a calm demeanor while participating in debates, and just generally being a high quality poster and contributor goes a lot farther towards getting noticed. 4) 1 - Haemonculus 5?) No one in particular, someone just nominates a user and then Reds discuss the nominee until a decision is reached.
what about website feedback threads? are those watched specifically? |

| now this may seem a bit rich coming from me, but has anyone else noticed that the vast majority of people who pick up bans have stupid names. maybe theres a correlation between time put in to thinking up username and time put in to thinking up post. |

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally I have the TLPD thread in particular as one of my subscribed threads, and I try to look at the entire forum every so often just from prior habit. |

Yeah...this is just silly. Some people need to just settle down as a whole. I commented on this guy yesterday and since you did more digging, I think I was right. Some of these fans don't know how to tell what facts are and also are really bad at being cynical. |

Mithax was just banned by Hot_Bid.
That account was created on 2012-05-01 23:26:32 and had 3 posts.
Reason: Please don't just spam links and job postings, thanks.
How hard would it have been for this guy to write a proper thread advertising SK gaming? And it seems wierd that he would spam this,

if he worked for SK gaming. You would think they would want a proper post + proper grammar. Edit: on second thought I deleted the links. His comment was nuked so I don't want to advertise for him. Suffice to say he is from SKLast edit: 2012-05-11 11:37:37 |
