I don't understand this ban. The posting may have been sarcastic, but it wasn't insulting or inflammatory.
Sure, Naniwa didn't have the most awesome personal life on earth considering the issues with his parents and school, but for all the average user knows, his troubles may have come from excessive gaming in the first place. And his image is generally accepted to be that of a player that manages to get kicked out of multiple Esport events and has been infamous for his manners for years.
If there's more to tell about Naniwa (I don't know more, but I guess there is) it'd be interesting to spread that; maybe his image is unjustified after all or at least his behaviour could be understood better and he as a person could be better appreciated.Last edit: 2010-12-05 02:54:27 |

Unless it's an attempt at humour I don't see how sarcasm like that could be read as anything other than insulting and inflammatory.
Passing judgement on someone based on almost no information and then adding a snide comment sounds like a pretty good reason for a ban.
I like TL's attitude that just because one person acts like a douche, doesn't give someone else the right to act like a douche.

Looked to me that his post wasn't really directed at Naniwa, but the posters defending him with "He's having a hard time/has had a hard life". Don't quite see how it's banworthy but then again, people would have looked at him funny if he said the same in real life, it's a bit douchey to be sure. |

Sure the posting expressed behaviour I wouldn't advocate. I just don't see how it warrants a direct ban instead of a warning (unless, of course, the poster in question had a previous history of bad posts). |
