He got banned for basically saying "Donate money to me or I won't stream". Since then TL has worked out a policy on donations. Show nested quote +"One can imagine" is just a polite way of not expressing my disdain for other streamers, i guess.
I can imagine a situation where this still doesn't make sense.
there exists a streamer who i find to be without worth, in personality and play, who i know has asked for donations, but i do not know the specifics of it. Because his situation could differ from Huks, and also because said streamer may have been banned as well, i chose to word it this way. I do not know whether there was an actual injustice, but I assumed that there was. I essentially "made up" the situation in my head, because i jumped to conclusions. Using "one can imagine" (a dumb phrase, i admit) was just me conceding that i did not know anything about it.

Lots of top players have been banned on TL before... being a top player doesn't mean you're a good poster.
thats a good point.

We can't do anything about people asking for donations on their stream. huk posted it on TL. Further, he posted it like he will stop streaming if you don't donate, which is something no one has done before.
If you want to go further into the situation there's more things that happened, but I'd like to think you'd trust the staff enough not to take wildly different actions against people without justification.

Although I do seem to remember reading on TL that having faster internet brings you better replies
But yea I didn't read that thread where huk posted that, but reading the quote in the ban makes me think he was just joking? He was asking for donations sure but it's not like he was being malacious about it seriously. He was saying "Please donate so I have enough money for internet so you guys can keep watching me stream!" Obviously if he doesn't have internet he can't stream And he seemed to be saying it jokingly anyways. But like I said I didn't read that thread so that quote could be out of context to me.
Also I think the artosis thread title was slightly misleading, but such is a forum. "Make a TL icon, win a TL tshirt" to me that means all I have to do is make an icon to get the tshirt, doesn't imply that I need to make a good icon and have it be chosen. "The Automated Ban List" isn't actually the automated ban list, but discussion about bans people have seen on it. So sure it was slightly misleading, it's not CONFIRMED that it's the last OSL for SC1, but it very possibly could be as hwanni said. I do think that all TL mods and admins need to take anger management classes because they seem to lash out at people that don't deserve it. Reading some of Chill's replies in this thread makes me think that. The mods I think are a big reason why TL seems unfriendly to new users. New users get yelled at by everybody and made fun of by mods when they get banned for maybe not knowing the rules. But hey, I never actually go into the 'forum' section I only access the most recent posts usually from the home page, and the rules aren't listed there so maybe a lot of new posters don't know these rules. Most of them just deserve polite warnings and not 2 day bans with a snarky comment. |

Mods here are excellent, and as a new user I have a) never been mocked for being new, nor b) been made fun of by a mod. And if you fail to read the 10 commandments page, which it suggests you do when you first join in big writing, then you deserve whatever ban/mockery you get in my opinion. |

I'm not saying new people get mocked and made fun of just for being new, I'm saying that people treat low post count people badly like they don't know anything if they post something in the wrong section or don't post by the crazy rules in the SC2 section (Which most people don't follow the rules of that forum, which has rules that are not apart of the 10 commandments thread so most people wouldn't see it unless they actually went to the "forums" section) If say... Nony (since he just posted ) posted a one liner with a link to a super cool VOD on youtube, nobody would have a problem with it, but if joe.noobie posted something similar he would get banned with a message like "No effort" "didn't even try" |

Oh Tyler! How did you learn to keep yourself from self-exploding? I find that i'm a little premature in my exploding and would appreciate any advice you might have so that i don't get perm banned for my angry outbursts.
Would you recommend Yoga? |

It's a serious logical leap to assume you were banned for criticizing mods. You were banned because during your last temp ban, you made 8 accounts to spam the forums in a rage. Your account should've been banned immediately after your 30-day expired, but no one remembered.
Thanks for drawing attention to it though, you can always tell what's up when people start accusing others of having "anger management issues".
I think if you calm down and take some time off from the internet, you might get a little perspective and not get so worked up. Good luck and thanks in advance. |
