DCINSIDE, a very famous Korean forum, exploded into action (I actually couldn't get in because the entire site kept showing error due to huge influx of people) once Yellow won his first Kespa officiated match in 735 days. Not only did the Starcraft board get bombarded with Yellow related threads, so did multiple other forums totally unrelated to Starcraft (such as WOW, Korean baseball, comedy TV shows and so on).
Some comments:
All hail the KONG GOD
Hong Jin Ho number 1 on NAVER (the biggest portal site in Korea)
This is the 5th BONJWA HONG JIN HO
KONG-lleluja!
How dare you discuss baseball when KONG won!
Storm > SNSD (a top Korean girl group) orcs
Will you only see clearly once you read this for 222 (in reference to Yellow's fondness for 2nd place) pages?
We offer you our forum (Dungeon and Fighter forum) in honour of the great KONG god
When the article for Yellow's victory over Bisu was posted on FOMOS, a Korean E-Sports site, 4096 people replied to solute Yellow for his victory. Take into consideration that the next biggest news of the day, Effort narrowly failing to beating GoRush's record for the longest Kespa officiated match winning streak (both ended with 15), only had 72 replies. I can't recall the last time ANY article had more than a thousand replies, never mind 4000.
Interview with the great man himself on FOMOS.
Q: What are your thoughtss on your first victory since to joined ACE?
A: It feels so refreshing. I didn't know it took me so long, but I was told that it was my first victory in 735 days. This was my sixth Proleague match this season, and in the previous games I thought that I would win because I prepared a lot, but that was not the case. It was a difficult situation for me what with Bisu doing so well recently, and that doubles the gratification.
Q: Your strategic play was very memorable.
A: I was anxious to get rid of the scouting probe because my play was strategic. Fortunately everything turned out okay.
Q: How did you come up with your strategy?
A: I didn't do much strategic plays recently. I focused very hard on standard play after my enrollment, but with the map balance issues and the calibre of my opponent, people suggested to me that I should perhaps try a strategic game. After discussing with my coach and teammates we came up with the idea of lurker drops, and after some practice it turned out to be a pretty good strategy. Oversky is really good with coming up with build orders, and he helped me a lot with this strategy.
Q: What were your feelings when you won the game?
A: After not playing on television for a while, I started to have nerves when playing. I lost games without even showing what I prepared, and that was hard to take. The problem is still present even now. I kept worrying about making bad mistakes today, but I'm so happy that I've won the game without making any obvious errors. Time seemed to stand still after my opponent typed "gg".
Q: A lot of fans await your rematch with Boxer.
A: I would like to play him. I didn't get to face him this time, so it'll have to wait.
Q: Any final words?
A: In my previous games, I used to prepare what to say in the case that I've won. Howevever, after losing so many games, I didn't get to prepare any comments this time round. I would like to apologize for taking so long to get my first victory and I would also like to thank everyone who helped me prepare for this match. I'll train hard so that today's victory becomes a stepping stone for my second and third victories.
STORM FOREVER.
P.S. I actually had to write this twice because the whole thing blew away when I pressed "post message" after I logged out automatically. I got really pissed off, but I decided to write it again (less cohesively, if that's understandable), because today's victory is just too huge just to let it pass by.
