Same for me, loved the song, found out I shared the same bday with Taeyeon and shes been my #1 ever since. (Fany #2~) Shortly after I ventured into more kpop, discovered Big Bang, started watching variety shows (WGM, Family Outing) and since then cut out all my English music for Korean, haha. Pretty much SNSD/Big Bang made me fall for Korean music.

No one in K-Pop past or present could match YSJ's overall performing skills.
I'm actually curious as to what your definition of an Idol is. Because any way I look at it, IU would be an idol in my book.

I think by the traditional Japanese definition of it, as Japan defined East Asian pop culture for so long, an idol is a *performer*, scouted through a systematic audition with many stages, chosen for appearance as well as talent, and is *trained* by the same company that produces and promotes the idol's music.

Only thing I would add is generally young age (there are exceptions) and primarily geared towards a young, teenage market.
