Who else is pumped for the start of the REAL football season? Preseason is kicking into gear, Tom Brady is back in action... Michael Vick just signed with the Eagles, lots of NFL news breaking everywhere has me craving the regular season even more.
Anyone care to take any early season predictions? New England's gonna be hard to beat in the AFC if Brady is back 100% NFC seems to be a crapshoot, who the F saw the Cards making the Super Bowl last year? I don't expect that to happen again... I like the Cowboys in the NFC this year. I think Romo finally plays well in December/January and they make the Super Bowl. They have 3 sick RB's for an insane running game all season and even though they cut T.O I think they still have more than enough weapons in the passing game with Witten and Williams. It'll be up to Romo really if the Cowboys do it this year.
Steelers should be solid again, I could easily see an AFC championship with Steelers/Pats this year.
Denver's gonna be a joke this year. No more Cutler and Shanny, I still can't believe they got rid of Shanny. Denver is well on their way to a 5-11 season.
On the flip side if Cutler plays well for Chicago the Bears should be sick in the NFC. They already have a great D, Cutler + Hester could be a mad crazy combo.
I think the Seahawks bounce back and have a strong season. If healthy they should win the NFC West easily. Rams will continue to suck this year. Detroit is gonna win more than 0 games this year.... Colts will be interesting to watch now that Dungy is retired, will they continue being one of the top teams in the AFC? If Peyton keeps it up they have to.
Can't wait for September 10th! Opening night! It's still 3+ weeks away though! |

Does Chicago even have a good receiving corps?
I am more interested in the Browns to see if Mangini capsizes and gets what he deserves, didn't Coughlin teach the NFL that absolutely controlling coaches won't win a Ring? |

| Chicago has nearly nothing receiving wise but Cutler has the arm to stretch the field better than Grossman or Orton from previous seasons. I think Hester will play alot @ WR at least early on. If their offense even slightly improves this year they have the defense for sure. |

| I just heard some ESPN analyst saying Orton will have the better year due to the fact that Denver actually has some WR while the Bears just have Hestor. I think the Lions will be a bit decent, while I think the pats are overrated. I don't know why but I think they won't be as good as people think. |

And I'm calling it again. They'll at least make the playoffs, because seriously who in the NFC West can give them a serious challenge. The Seahawks. Lol! |

They'll make it because of the lolWest but they won't make the Super Bowl. They got blessed with injuries last year and there's no way Warner is staying healthy. I actually think the Seahawks will surprise people, considering they got completely raped by injuries last season. |

Hell yes I'm pumped!! GIANTS BABY!!!! So here are my predictions for the upcoming season. In the NFC I see things shaking up like this.
In the West I see the Cards repeating as division champs. They really are a talented team and the 49ers/Rams suck ass. I'm also not buying the Seahawks rebounding. They still stink on defense, and there no way in hell a wildcard comes out of the west.
The South is a interesting division with 3 good teams, but only two teams play any kind of defense. So the Saints despite having the best offense are out of the race. The Panthers have more veterans then the Falcons and I would not be shocked if Matt Ryan has a sophomore slump too. So I'll take the Panthers in the South. As for you Bucs fans enjoy the rebuilding year.
The North is just as interesting as the South to me with another 3 team race. The Bears have a declining defense, but Cuttler makes them a contender again. Add a great looking RB in Forte, and I think the Bears are the favorites to win the division. Still this maybe the tightest race of any division in the NFL. The Packers have alot of young talent on defense and a good looking young QB. Then there are the Vikings who have the best defense of any of these clubs and the best running game. So it's likely we get a wildcard out of this division too. Lions fans are just praying to win a game this year
In the East I think my beloved Giants and the filthy dirty Eagles are heads above the rest. The Giants have the best lines on both sides of the ball, and we still have a great stable of HBs even with the loss of Ward. That should be more then enough to carry them to the playoffs yet again. The Eagles are a scary offense if they can stay healthy, and there defensive secondary is second to none. Washington will have a good defensive line, but not much on offense. The wheels have to come off Portis sooner or later. Then there is the Cowgirls and I'm telling you all. MOST OVERRATED TEAM EVER!!! There O-line gets rolfstomped by good D-lines, and they are only getting older and fatter. There secondary is shit besides Newmen and there WRs are worse then ever. I think Romo really is a good QB but the talent around him is not nearly as good as people think. Final word Giants #1 Eagles #2 both make the playoffs.
Moving on to the AFC east where its the Pats and Fish . The Bills suck, and the Jets are a year or two away. The fish while they are good, they are outclassed by Brady and co. Pats return to glory and take the division.
The AFC north is going to be the best race in the AFC, The Browns have no chance but I'm looking for the Bengals to shock some people. Carson Palmer healthy and they have improved the defense. A playoff fight for a wildcard spot between them and the Steelers could pop up. This rape case shit has to fuck with the Steelers heads a bit. There o-line/running game is also still suspect to me. I think they take a step back this year. The Ravens I think take the title. Good young QB/RBs, good defense, veteran WRs, and a decent o-line. Nothing not to like with the Ravens.
I think the AFC South will be a repeat of last year. You'll have Manning carry the Colts to a wildcard birth by himself, and the Titans will run over everyone. They will still play good defense despite losing the big man in the middle Haynesworth. The Texans are still shitty and the Jaguars once punishing defense is no more.
The West is such a joke, SUCH A JOKE! Worst division in all of football. I don't even want to talk about it. The chargers will win it, and that's all we need to know.
So my playoffs look like this
NFC East-Giants North-Bears South-Panthers West-Cards Wildcards Eagles Packers
AFC East-Pats North-Ravens South-Titans West-Chargers Wildcards Bangles Colts
Superbowl matchup Ravens Vs Giants
Superbowl winner Giants |

The Giants won't be shit this year. They lost 1/3rd of their dynamic backfield to FA, Jacobs can't stay healthy all year, and Eli has no one to throw to anymore. Philly takes the East easily.
The Texans are going to win the AFC South. They've been on the verge of being a good team for several years now, and this year they're going to do it. They picked up a couple defenders to help Mario out on the line. They're going to have a nasty defense this year, and the offense is going to be very good with AJ, Forte, Daniels, and the white receiver whose name I can't recall. The Colts will be in the race, and the Titans have no chance of repeating last year. They lost their center piece for their D (Haynesworth), and added very little to it to help out. They have a good secondary, but without Al in the middle taking double and triple teams and pushing teammates through the line, their D will not be what it was last year, which is what got them as far as they went. CJ will be CJ and tear teams up, but their offense still won't be shit.
The Ravens haven't added enough offensive talent to make them a real threat to win the North, and they lost a very important defender. They will still be good, but I don't see them being the division winner. And you have got to be kidding about the Bengals. I don't care if Jesus was on that team, they'd still suck.
The Broncos are going to be better than people are expecting. Shannahan hasn't done dick since '05, it was time for a change in Denver (and this is probably the biggest Broncos fan on this forum talking about this, so... take that however you want, but I know this team pretty well). Jay Cutler is not the only player on the offense. They added a HB that should stay healthy throughout the year, and McDaniels likes to run a type of offense that is fairly well suited for Orton's abilities (underneath routes, crossing patterns, etc.). It's a timing and execution offense, not a big play offense. Orton can do that, and he actually has someone to throw to this year. They have also made some fantastic additions to the defense: Brian Dawkins, for instance. The Chargers are done for, Norv Turner is an absolutely terrible coach. Ron Rivera is a great DC, but he can't save the team on his own. As long as Norv is there they'll continue to struggle.
Pats are back, but they won't win the Super Bowl, imo, and that's all that matters. I hate that division, so I don't see any sense in talking about it.
Cards win the NFC West, probably, but I can see the argument for the Seahawks if they stay healthy (which I doubt they will. Hasselbeck has become incredibly fragile over the past couple of years, and their receivers suck regardless). The 'Hawks D is very talented when healthy. The problem I have with them is that Holmgren isn't their coach anymore, and I have very little faith in Jim Mora Jr.
Which segues perfectly to the South where the Falcons are going to win the division. Matt Ryan won't slump this year, because he has the Burner running the ball with Norwood running behind him, an amazing offensive line, and Roddy fucking White. It's almost impossible for him to be bad his has so much talent around him. If their D is improved even slightly they'll be a force this year.
The NFC North is such a tossup. Anyone saying the Bears still have a good D has not watched football the last two years. Their D sucks (And this is coming from someone who watches every single game of theirs, every single season, because I live in IL, and I love the Bears almost as much as I love the Broncos). They have no secondary to speak of, and they can't get pressure on the QB to save their lives. They are decent against the run, but when everyone can pass on you all day, they don't bother running. Cutler coming to the team is big, but I still question the WR corp. He does have two good TE's to throw to though, and he likes throwing to TE's. The Vikings are still a QB away from being dangerous, but don't count them out. The Packers could be really good this year. BJ Raji added to the lineup is huge, but I wonder how quickly the team can adapt to a 3-4 defense. I have no idea who to pick as a winner in this division, but I do think the Lions will be last again.
I guess that's it for now. I'm not going to do a playoff prediction thing like WannaB did. |

They're gonna use him in the wildcat, I'd imagine.
Man, as much as he pisses me off at times (black qbs thing, blaming others when he does bad himself), McNabb has never been treated right by that organization. Once in his entire career have they given him am established receiver—he's essentially carried that offense himself his entire career. There isn't a doubt in my mind that the Eagles would have won at least one championship if he had TO (or a similar stud) for more than one year during that four year NFC Championship run.
Their big acquisition this offseason is a PR disaster that hasn't taken a snap in over two years. And he's a former qb, which is obviously going to turn up the heat on McNabb as soon as he has one mediocre game. I'm actually amazed that McNabb hasn't left after the years of bullshit from the Eagles and their mostly retarded fans. |

They did get him Jeremy Maclin this year this year, and Maclin would probably have been the first WR off the board if he didn't have all the image stuff (maybe second, because Al Davis is a fucking idiot). |

I was talking more of established guys, not rookies with a ton of potential. Like, I think Foster's got a shot at becoming a good WR, but they're essentially a team with a bunch of #2 and #3 guys.
Regarding more general stuff, I agree with you on the Bears. Cutler is damn good, but he's got shit to throw to. Hester isn't a good WR, and they decided to take him off returns. That's retarded. Their D has declined, Urlacher is getting old and so on. The Vikes will battle GB (and it will be closer than people think) for that division.
I think the Giants won't be as bad as you think. Even with Ward gone, they've still got a solid 1-2 (and I'm sure after that line and Jacobs wears you down, anyone can come in and pick up yards). They won't be explosive due to inexperience at WR, but there's definitely potential there. Steve Smith is gonna emerge as the #1. I think the whole division is gonna be a bloodbath. Every team is good, but has some flaws.
NFC west, I'd imagine Cards probably win it, but it will be close. The Rams will continue to suck, that's a given. The Niners have made some improvements, and I like Singletary as coach. He will make a hardnosed team out of them. I think the Hawks are a team that's been in rebuilding mode for a year or two now, but hasn't accepted it. Their line is mediocre now, no WRs, decent RB, pretty solid D when healthy... but not enough to do much. I'm not entirely sold on Mora as well.
I think the Falcons obliterate the south this year. Ryan is legit, and how he's got Turner/Noordwood, White and fucking Tony Gonzales. What the christ?? Halfway decent D behind him too means they're gonna be a legit force. The Bucs are a mess. Jake Delhomme sucks and is totally carried by an amazing run game and the mighty midget on the outside. Their D and run game will put the Panthers in second tho. The Saints have a really nice passing game, but people are finally starting to realize Bush can't do a damn thing between the tackles. With a shit defense and no run game, you don't go far.
I think the Pats come back to lay a hurting on the AFC east. The Bills will come in second and not by far. Antics aside, TO still makes any qb look good and he's got a good rb behind him and a capable 2nd and 3rd wr. Defense is ok there too. People have caught on to Miami's offense and that shit won't happen this year—bank on it. They'll float around .500. The Jets will get spanked this season and I will enjoy it. Inexperienced qbs, no good wrs outside of Cotchery (who is a #2 guy really) which means no room for Thomas Jones. Their D will keep them in games though.
The Steelers will win their division, but will have their usual bloodbath battles with the Ravens. If the Ravens ever got an offense, they'd kill it. Flacco will improve, but he's still got an older Mason as his #1, with no replacement in sight. The Bengals will suck and will compete with the Browns to see who sucks the most. I hope that no talent, wanna-be hardass Mangini coaches himself out of the NFL in Cleveland.
I still think the Colts win their division, but the Texans finally come in as a wild card. Slaton is a legit RB. Johnson is a fucking animal who doesn't need help from anyone, and now with a halfway decent team, he will destroy opponents. They've got a halfway decent TE too (forget his name now) and Schaub can probably make it work with all the pieces around him. The D is continuting to improve as well. I agree with the remark on the Titans: Getting older, did zlich to improve the offense and lost the cog on their Dline—which is what made their entire defense click. They will be like the Jags and hover slightly abovee .500 in a competitive division.
SD will only win the west because every team in the division sucks ass, and they've got some talent, Turner's coaching be damned. I don't care how you spin it, the Broncos are a mess now. Dawkins and Moreano are the only moves I liked. Orton fucking blows, and Marshall's gonna want to shoot his head off. They were crappy last year with Cutler—a good qb—and will be subpar without him. Their run game will be good, but their D isn't good enough to make them a playoff team. The Chiefs will suck again. Any idiot could have stepped in and ran the Pats offense last year. Larry Johnson is a headcase. Bowe is the only bright spot on that offense now. The D is all has beens really. They'd be last if it wasn't for the Raiders, who I won't waste the time talking about.
