GSTL Finals Interview(Thx Seeker)

On July 28th at Busan Haeundae, on a special stage for the 2012 Hot6iX GSTL Season 2 finals, FXO defeated SlayerS with a score of 5:0 and won the GSTL championship for the first time ever.
FXO's starter, GuMiho, defeated MMA, Min, CoCa, Ryung, and Puzzle to set an all kill record for FXO and grabbed the championship for FXO.
Slayers sent out all their ace players but it was not enough to bring down FXO's starter GuMiho and disappointingly had to settle for second place.
FXO GuMiho who was the sole reason for FXO's victory stated that "I'm so glad that my first ever GSTL all kill was done on the finals stage."
You were sent out as the starter but grabbed an all kill. How do you feel?
I'm still in a daze. I'm so glad that our team, who would always get all killed, grabbed the championship and that I was able to grab the first ever all kill for our team on a finals stage.
How many victories did you think you were going to achieve?
When I was chosen as the starter I was full of confidence. However, the minute I saw that SlayerS was starting off with MMA I became frustrated. Our team had worked so hard for this moment so I told myself that I had to at the very least achieve 1 kill. But form some reason, I was able to achieve an all kill.
The final game was a cliff hanger?(벼랑 끝 is what it says) victory. If you could repeat that game?
I was in a lot of disadvantageous situations. However, I think Puzzle got intimidated by the current score and hesitated to attack. As soon as I realized what was going on in Puzzle's mind, I realized that I could win this so I began to get nervous. That's why I think I got shaken up a bit. Thankfully I regained my composure and grabbed the victory like this.
You won five games by yourself. At what point did you think you were going to get the all kill?
Even after grabbing three kills I didn't let down my guard. The minute I realized I was going to get an all kill was only after I had grabbed an advantage against Puzzle with my marine micro.
Which game was the hardest?
Definitely the game against CoCa. But after I beat him the games became really fun for me. Thanks to that victory I was able to enjoy the rest of my games.
Anything else you would like to say?
I want to thank my parents who allowed me to become a professional gamer, our coach who helped us so much just to get us to this point, and the fans who cheered us on relentlessly. I want to apologize to my teammates who never got sent out even though they prepared so extensively for this, and I want to say that since our team now raised our win ratio to 50%, we will enter next season as not an underdog team but a top dog team.
GSL Ro8 Winner(Thanks Weirdkid)
Q: You advanced to the Code S semi-finals for the first time. How does it feel?
A: Very happy. I wasn't able to play as well as I wanted to in the game, and that made me a bit uneasy. I am very happy to advance despite that. I even made newbie mistakes such as being supply blocked, which made me think I was going to be eliminated.
Q: Overall, what mistakes were there?
A: There were mistakes in the second and third game. I was supply blocked for a period of time, and there were also some mistakes with resource gathering. It was just all these minor mistakes that kept cropping up.
Q: Even though you made all these mistakes, you still managed to win 3:1. Are you satisfied with the score?
A: The match went as I had planned for it to go. In the game that I lost, I already had the feeling that I was going to lose that. I prepared very little for the second game because I thought the map was so hard. I just gave up on the practice for that. I mainly focused my practice on the first game.
My strategy in the first game was not one that I use often, but because I practised sufficiently for that, I was quite confident. In the third game, I had absolute confidence in my strategy for that game.
Q: Did Oz help you in practice?
A: Yes. He spoke a lot to me too. He told me a few points that Terran was strongest at, and told me to take advantage of those few points. This did help me, but only a little bit (laughs).
What he told me was about ghost timings, but because the strategies that I had prepared were not standard strategies, it wasn't much help to me.
Q: Your opponent in the semi-finals is the winner between DongRaeGu and Parting. Who do you wish to face?
A: They're both really strong. When I practised with Parting, it just felt like I was running into a wall. It would be really hard to win using a mix up of special strategies like I did today.
I was originally confident in my TvZ, but there is the possibility that patch 1.4.3 is coming out soon, which makes me very worried. If the patch comes out, the key point of contention will be about who adapts to the new patch faster. I think there will be a huge change in the way the TvZ matchup is played.
If I absolutely had to choose, I think Parting will be an easier match. Because I am good friends with him, I will feel less guilty even if I were to win against him.
Q: What do you think are the chances of you getting to the finals?
A: I don't think it's very high. To be honest, even for today, I did not expect for myself to really win. I think it's really strange. Every time I think I am going to lose, my chances of winning go up.
It seems like I am less stressed when I start feeling there isn't much hope for me left, so I am usually able to play well. For this semifinals though, I think that the results will be proportional to the amount of effort put in.
Q: If you make it to the finals, who do you hope your opponent to be?
A: I hope it's MC. Even though the results of the finals are very important too, the most important is still the accumulation of experience. So I think it's better to play against the strongest opponent. That will stimulate myself into working even harder, and even if I lose I will learn a lot. I think there's nothing to lose.
Q: Any last things you want to say?
A: asd hyung lost in the preliminaries yesterday. We are all really sad, but we hope he'll be able to continue doing his best.
I want to thank the team mates who helped me practise, and also CreatorPrime. I hope we will do well in GSTL the day after tomorrow. I also hope that Tear, who will be making his debut, will be able to do well and get good results.
GSL Ro16 Second Place Interview(Thanks WeirdKid!)
Q: How does it feel making it into the round of 8 for the first time?
A: I feel good. I feel really good. I wasn't as nervous as before for today's games. Honestly, I didn't expect myself to be able to beat MVP twice in a row.
Q: You won 2-0 against MVP, who picked you, in the first series.
A: To be honest, I wasn't very confident for the first series. I played really offensive because I wanted to play to my style. But it actually worked and gave me victory.
Q: You then lost 2-0 against aLive in the winner's game.
A: I chose the wrong strategies. My opponent had really good strategies, and because I got the feeling I was in a bad position from the early game, it caused me to play impatiently. I lost in terms of the opening, and I also lost in terms of my mentality. I think ultimately, it's just that he played too good.
Q: What were your thoughts facing against MVP in the final series?
A: I was half expectant, and half given up. I basically just gave up after losing the first game. Then I realised that I actually played better when I wasn't stressed.
Q: You even made the mistake of attacking your own command centre with your own marines in the final game.
A: I wanted to attack the neutral supply depot, but then I realised I was attacking my own base. However, I've made so many mistakes in the past, so this probably doesn't really count as one I guess. I've made worse mistakes than this before. It's fine as long as it wasn't destroyed (laughs).
Furthermore, there wasn't any real substantial damage. If I had made a mistake like being supply blocked, I think I would have lost.
Q: For the first time, you get to remain in Code S without playing in the up and down matches.
A: I am really happy. However, I am not really confident facing against MMA. I will try my best in preparing for the games though, and try to achieve victory. I learn a lot from watching MMA play. Perhaps, because of that, I feel like I am weaker when I have to play against a player of the same style.
Q: Who do you think you will face in the round of 8? There is a chance of a team kill with Oz
A; As I said before, I think it will be MMA. Even though it will be tougher playing against Oz, I think he will qualify as second in the group.
Q: Are you saying that the round of 8 will be your biggest hurdle? If you manage to make it past this hurdle, how do you think you wil do?
A: For today's games, I think MVP was my hurdle. TvT has always been my weakest match up, plus it was MVP, so that's why I feel that way.
As of now, I think that if I can play well in the round of 8, I will be confident of winning the competition. Amongst the remaining players, I am most afraid of MMA.
Q: Any last things you want to add?
A: I want to thank the players who practised with me. I also want to thank my team mates and coaching team for always coming to the studio to support me.
I also want to thank my parents. During the new year, I went to visit my grandfather, and realised he was a bit ill in health. I hope he can exercise more, and become healthy soon.
WCG 2011 Round of 32
Q. How does it feel to advance to the Ro16?
A. I was worried because my group was difficult, but now I'm happy that I'm one step closer to representing Korea.
Q. There were some twists and turns in your path to the next round.
A. I was a little shaky today, but I just approached the game with the thought that SlayerS'Taeja would have a harder time.
Q. How do you rate your performance?
A. I was supply blocked a few times and had some difficulty assigning control groups to my units and locations.
Q. There was a delay due to the map choice after the winners match.
A. I didn't spot the mistake as well, but since I lost the game, I'm don't feel it was unfair. I understand the situation since this is OGN's first time broadcasting SC2. I hope these problems don't surface again and the rest of the tournament runs smoothly.
Q. What is your goal for the tournament?
A. Of coure to win it.
Q. Any race or specific players that might give you trouble in reaching that goal?
A. TvZ is the most difficult for me. (T/N: LOL) There are a few players as well, but I'll keep that close to my chest.
Q. The tournament adopts a Round-robin system from the Ro16.
A. I think the games will cause a few headaches. I personally prefer a standard (elimination) tournament system.
Q. Any last thoughts?
A. I want to thank manager FXO.choya and the people involved with the team. I wish that my teammates find similar success in future WCG matches. Group C has two of them together, and I hope they can both advance.

Interview: GSL October Code S Up and Downs Group A
Q: You've succeeded in advancing to Code S. How do you feel?
A: I'm still a little shaken. I had gone for management games for the first three, so I had to swallow my pride in order to use an all-in in the final game. But if I lost the last game I would have fallen to Code A, and I had no choice but to use the all-in. So I played the game very worried. To be honest, I thought that Genius would have been able to stop it, but my vikings killed his void rays quickly so I was able to win.
Q: You were knocked out in the Round of 4 in Code A, was this a blow to your mental state?
A: Honestly, during that time I was winning a lot, so I thought that I would have to lose some time. That time was the Code A Round of 4. It was more of a shock than I thought it would be. But a day passed and I was able to forget about it, and then just waited for the Up and Downs. Curious is really good. I said that he had to pay for something, but his debt just increased (laughs).
Q: You were in a group with 3 Protoss and 1 Zerg.
A: I'm most confident in my TvT, but it was a group without any Terrans. Frankly during practice my TvT winrate is the best. There were no Terrans so I was worried, and my TvP is weak so I was really worried. I analyzed my opponent's styles a lot and chose builds that would match up well, so I was able to win.
Q: Which Protoss did you think was the most difficult?
A: To be honest, I thought they were all difficult. But if I had to pick one, it would be Puzzle. Because his method of play is really strong.
Q: FXO now has three players in Code S. Do you think it will have more?
A: I think Oz will not lose. His PvP is good, and his PvT is really good. It seems like Oz can advance. If Lucky can control his mental state he will be able to, and since the atmosphere is good lately I expect him to advance. Our team might have 5 Code S players next season.
Q: Your first Code S lies ahead of you. What is your goal?
A: To win. I'm most confident in my TvT and Code S has a lot of Terrans. It's really good. Practice will be easy and it's my most comfortable matchup.
Q: Code S Terrans are all really strong, aren't you worried?
A: Yes, so I want to play quickly. I want to experience how different it is. Since I can't show my skill 100% in practice, I want to meet in official games. The Terrans I want to meet most are those in the Round of 4 this season.
Q: Do you hope to be picked by one of the Round of 4 Terrans in the group selection ceremony?
A: I could get knocked out easily, but since my goal is to win I will have to meet them some time. So it wouldn't be bad even if they picked me. I think it won't be bad to have a difficult path starting from the Round of 32. If it's like that and I advance, then I will get a lot of confidence.
Q: Anything else you want to say?
A: I want to thank Crane and Weekend for practicing with me and coming with me to the studio. I want to thank Lucky and TeriousPrime for helping with TvZ. There's not much time left until the preliminaries, but Choya came to the studio with me today anyway, so I want to thank him. And I hope that everyone in our team can advance through the upcoming qualifiers.

WCG Ro16 Group B
Source - http://esports.dailygame.co.kr/news/read.php?id=51113
Q: Thoughts on advancing to the WCG Korean representative tournament Round of 8?
A: I am half sorry and half happy. I promised with TheBest that we would both advance with two wins, but that didn't happen so it's regrettable.
Q: You did not have an easy group. What was the reason for your first loss?
A: The base trade timing didn't go well for me, so I was not able to play calmly. There was still a chance for me to win, but because I couldn't play calmly I threw the chance away.
Q: In the second game, didn't it look like bionic cannot work against mech?
A: It was possible to play a little more perfectly, but I couldn't so it's regrettable. In games with pros, bionic and mech can both be good so the game isn't decided beforehand. I don't think the strategy determines whether you will do well.
Q: What did you think of having a 4 Terran group?
A: I prepared a lot for using mech, but things didn't turn out according to practice. More than preparing builds, I think using strategies you have experience practicing with is a big help.
Q: In the last game, you had to do a teamkill.
Q: I thought it was a game I would lose. It seems like TheBest made a mistake so I was able to win. Since we said whoever won today would buy food, I will have to do that.
Q: Which player do you think will be the biggest obstacle in WCG?
A: I think the Protosses Oz, MC, and San will be demanding. Personally, TvP is the matchup I need to work on the most.
Q: Anything you want to say?
A: I want to apologize again to TheBest. Code S FXO players fighting! There are only a few days left until the preliminaries; I hope our teammates will do well. Also, my parents sent me a text message but I couldn't send a reply, so I'm sorry.

Thanks to Lixler for translating.
