Hi, I recently bought my Cyborg R.A.T 9 mouse, which is pretty awesome. But I'm experiencing some problems, as when i've used the mouse for a little while the cursor starts jumping around, and it's that bad it's unplayable when this occurs. I've tried turning it off and on again (when this is happening), and change battery, but it still moves unevenly.
I really don't know what todo, else then just return the mouse to Cyborg. This is just a last stand to see if there is any answers.
I've done ton of research about this problem, but I haven't found many that have the same problem. I've reinstalled the driver, uninstalled all other mice drivers.
I know there was a problem with R.A.T 9 that if you had the extended pinky on it, it would move unevenly, but I ain't using the extended pinky.
Edit: I've tried different surfaces, and I've even tried it on another computer, the the problem still exist. Edit #2: I might just write this too. I had a similar problem, though this time I could just move sideways, and sometimes just up and down. This only occurred once though, so it might be that something got stuck within in the lens. Thanks in advance.
Regards

I was having problem with a version of RAT 7, not quite as you described it, more like it froze up.
I read somwhere that you shouldn´t be using black surface with the cyborg mices so I bought a white / orange on and havn´t had any problems since then.

I have the problem where the cursor wont move somewhere consistantly. The only way I have been able to fix it is blowing into the lens and changing mousepad to something lighter (colour wise)
|
my RAT 7 works perfectly on my razer kabuto mousepad and with acceleration enabled under mouse settings in windows. without acceleration enabled, and i'm not sure if this has to do with the mouse pad, the mouse locks up randomly. it's hard to tell..
|
I have the RAT 7 and I absolutely love this thing. I've heard that you need to disable the "enhance pointer precision" option in the mouse settings in order to optimize performance and avoid issues similar to what you've described. Not sure about the color issue but I have a Razer Goliathus pad which is black and mine is working fine at the moment.

Sometimes my mouse gets a tiny piece of hair stuck inside right by the laser and it throws it outa wack and I gotta get tweezers to get it out then it works fine. The symptoms are about exactly what you described too

Hi, and thanks for the responses!
I am using a black surface - which might be the problem, though it does the same on my table (witch is much lighter). It might be the mouse pad, which is really easy to fix (I hope it is), or it might be a hardware failure.
I have disabled the Enhance pointer precision - and i've seen if there is anything stuck inside where the lens is.
I will try using another surface
Thank you very much for your help, ill cross my fingers that it's only the surface :D
I will give you feedback if the problem is occurs, or if it's completely gone

I read that it's incompatible with soft mouse pads, I guess ill go to the store and pick up a Razer Megasoma (which is a hybrid) or another hard mouse pad.
I really prefer having a soft mouse pad as they're usable in different conditions, though i'd rather get a new hard mouse pad then a new mice, as I love the R.A.T 9 :-)

The Phillips Twin-Eye sensor is somewhat finicky about the surface it's on sometimes, so it's probably better to get a hard pad for them. However, the bigger issue no one asked, but do you lift your mouse at all? The PTE has a pretty bad z-axis tracking problem that makes the cursor jump if you lift it off the surface.
|
No, I never lift my mouse, I have a rather high sensitivity, so it's not needed. The mouse is kinda heavy too, so i've heard people having problem with pain in their wrist after using it (though that's most likely for people who lift their mouse much). Tho good thinking
I think ill go for a hard pad - or the Megasoma, and hope it will fix the problem.

I have the same problem on my Albino and I've gotta say Cyborg has the worst customer service ever OMG. I've submitted the ticket for a month and they never reply it.
|
I have the same problem tuho12345. I also submitted a ticket some weeks ago. But I bought it from pixmania.com, which is a very nice website. They helped me, and gave me the details I needed to send the product back. They even said they would send me a new one, even before looking at the old one
I haven't been amazed by Cyborg, and at this rate they will never become as big as other gaming-gear companies. Which is sad, as they do make good products.

Don't get the Megasoma. I've read way too many negative reviews regarding how quickly it wears out.

Aww, thats sad - It looked pretty awesome. Then i'll just go for a hard pad.
Thanks!

I kknow this thread is old, but here is another user with similar problems. My cursor is jumping over pixels. Sometimes it follows wrongly in sideway while I am scrolling vertically, sometimes it is lagging few pixels behind and sometimes it jumps forward. Sometimes it follows correctly, than when mouse stops jumbs back for an ½ inch or so. The worst thing is all happeneds at random. I am using light mousepad with rough surface and relatively hard. I have uninstalled all old logitech drivers I had for my old mouse, and there is no hardware acceleration or anything else marked in windows settings. It is quite annyoing even in windows, not to mention when gaming.

Worth to mention is that I have tryed all different kind of sensitivity, but it does not make any difference .

Yay for horrible mouse sensors
|
yup the sensor is horrible indeed. i bought this mouse because it is perfect for my hand but i am also experiencing erratic cursor movements. tech support swears the lens is dirty..that's BS. i three more units after every few months and the results are the same, so i sent them all back for refund.
right now i am using logitech g700, really good. but i will still try another rat 9, the 6400 dpi version.

Why 6400dpi?
I play sc2, guild wars, diablo just fine @450dpi (zero acceleration, 6/11 windows), and 2000 would be considered on the very high end.
6400 is ludicrously high and with any DPI increases you are trading away accuracy.
Oh yea, i use a dual screen set up.

Maybe his mousepad is the size of a flea? My friends play on extremely high settings too for mouse sensitivity and I just don't understand how they do it.
