Event Format:+ Show Spoiler +
1. There will be 3 Open Online Qualifiers in the Summer Season (Europe, Korea/Taiwan, and North America).
2. Players finishing in the top 8 in each Summer Open Online Qualifier will be invited to participate in the same region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier.
3. The Summer Open Online Qualifiers will each support as many as 128 Players.
4. The Summer Open Online Qualifier Brackets will be separated into a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket. After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter a Losers Bracket. A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event.
Match Format
1. All Matches will be Best of 3 Games unless the Players have already played each other in their Summer Open Online Qualifier.
2. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in a Summer Open Online Qualifier, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
Seeding
1. Players will be seeded based on the following criteria in this order: Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings, Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings, and MLG Rank. If Spring Online Qualifier Consolation Matches were played, they may be used to break ties. Ties may also be broken using the next available criteria or randomly. Players who failed to finish in the top 32 of a Spring Open Online Qualifier, didn’t participate in a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier, and have no MLG Rank will be seeded randomly.
2. The Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings separate Players as follows: 9th Place, 13th Place, 17th Place, and 25th Place. Spring Open Online Qualifier Standings will only be used to seed Players who failed to qualify for a Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier.
3. The performance of Players finishing in the top 8 in each Summer Open Online Qualifier will be used to determine their seed in their region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier. The performance of Players finishing 9th-32nd in each Summer Open Online Qualifier will be used to determine their seed in the Summer Championship Starcraft 2 Event.
Registration
1. Players may not participate in more than one Summer Open Online Qualifier.
2. Registration for the Summer Open Online Qualifiers will open at 7 PM EDT on Monday, June 18th.
3. Online Registration for each Summer Open Online Qualifier will close 24 hours prior to the start of the Open Online Qualifier.
4. Summer Open Online Qualifier Player Passes will be sold in the MLG Store (http://store.majorleaguegaming.com/) for $10.
5. After obtaining a Player Pass, all Players must use Team Builder (http://team-builder.majorleaguegaming.com/) in order to complete their Registration, including accepting the 2012 Pro Circuit Official Rules. Players must also join the appropriate Tournament in SC2 Battles (https://sc2.majorleaguegaming.com/).
6. Unused Player Passes may not be kept as a Credit and later used in the purchase of a future Event Pass.
7. If a Player who finishes in the Top 8 of a Summer Open Online Qualifier is unable to participate in their Region’s Summer Invite-Only Online Qualifier, an alternate Player will not be selected to take their place.

If a Player loses their connection to the Host after the first minute of a Game, and then the in-game disconnect timer reaches 0, the disconnecting Player will Forfeit the Game.

In order to be eligible for the flight, a Player’s departure/return airport must be within their qualifying region. Players who are ineligible for the flight will only have their hotel stay booked. Unlike previous seasons, Players who are ineligible for the flight will not receive a Travel Stipend.
Event Format:+ Show Spoiler +
1. There will be 3 Invite-Only Online Qualifiers (each an “Event”) in the Summer Season (Europe, Korea/Taiwan, and North America).
2. The following Players will be invited to participate in the Summer Arena:
3. Each Event will support as few as 8 Players and as many as 88 Players, depending upon region choices (See Registration #4-5).
4. Each Event will consist of a Double Elimination Bracket with Consolation Matches (See Match Format #4 & Bracket Format #2-4).
Match Format
1. All Matches will be Best of 3 Games, unless the Players have already played each other in their Event.
2. If Players are scheduled to play each other for a 2nd time in an Event, their Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the previous Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if Player A beat Player B 2 Games to 0 in the Winners Bracket, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and Player A leading 2 Games to 0.
3. If the Players scheduled to play each other in the Finals have not yet played against each other in the Event, an initial Best of 3 Games Match must be played. If the Player who came from the Winners Bracket wins the initial Match, they will win the Event. If the Player who came from the Losers Bracket wins the initial Match, the Match will expand to a Best of 7, include the initial Match, and pick up where that Match left off. For example, if the Losers Bracket Player beat the Winners Bracket Player 2 Games to 0 in the initial Match, the Best of 7 will resume with Game 3 and the Losers Bracket Player leading 2 Games to 0.
4. The winner of a Finals Best of 7 will win the Event.
Bracket Format
1. Each Event will have a Winners Bracket and a Losers Bracket. After losing a Match in a Winners Bracket, Players will enter the Losers Bracket. A Match loss in a Losers Bracket will result in elimination from the Event (See Match Format #4 & Bracket Format #2-4).
2. Players eliminated from the EU Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 4 will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to determine the final Summer Arena Invitation and to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates. If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.
3. Players eliminated from the KOR/TW Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 6 will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to determine the final Summer Arena Invitation and to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates. If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie.
4. Players eliminated from the NA Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 6 will be scheduled to play two or three Consolation Matches in order to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates. If the Players who win one and lose one Consolation Match haven’t played a Consolation Match against each other, they will play each other in a Consolation Match in order to break the tie. Players eliminated from the NA Event by way of Losers Bracket Round 7 will be scheduled to play a Consolation match against each other in order to be ranked as Summer Arena Alternates.
5. The Match Format #2 “Extended Series” Rule also applies to Consolation Matches.
Seeding
1. Players will be seeded based on the following criteria in this order: Spring Championship Standings, Spring Arena #2 Standings, Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings, Summer Open Online Qualifier Standings, and MLG Rank. If Spring Championship or Spring Arena #2 Consolation Matches were played, they may be used to break ties. Ties may also be broken using the next available criterion or randomly. Spring Invite-Only Online Qualifier Standings will only be used to Seed Players who qualified for Spring Arena #2, but didn’t attend Spring Arena #2 or the Spring Championship.
