Just put a semikolon in front of each entry you don't want to see. I have done it to the StartupMovies entries, and now the game launches directly into the menu. Can you do that for that little cutscene that plays each time you meet new aliens in missions?

Cos JA2 was my favourite tactical game ever Yes, if only because it's the only game that has come somewhat close in the last decade. You'll miss the characters, dialog and humor, but it's still a good game. 8.0 to 8.5/10 I'd say. Of course you could wait a bit until the game is cheaper, patched and perhaps modded.

Even though I killed his first sectoid with rocket, all my soldiers had 1% hit chance (including flanking shotgunner). Also, his Ethereal's Rift did 97 damage :\ Not sure if game is buggy or my opponent used some hacks. LOL? i've only played a few LAN games with a friend who went pure human infantry, and i used ethereal each time because i thought it was quite OP. unless you're wearing absolutely no armor or something (in other words, impossible), i don't see how it could do 97 dmg, when the most i ever did was 14-16 with rift LOL. what is the point of even bringing that to a multiplayer game.

If you guys interested you should check them out. Those don't seem interesting. The biggest reason I preferred the old TU system with stats is that I got an extra 10-30 hours per play through doing extra missions to raise my soldiers' stats. More randomness won't keep the game interesting. Having additional options to break the difficulty of the game in the endgame does.

I think Rift is quite manageable, actually. But Reflect Attack is unbalanced for sure T_T they should make it trigger 2 times per turn maximum or not trigger at all if you're standing adjacently. Then refine unit cost slightly. So many bugs in multiplayer but i still enjoy it! :D Hope they will put more attention to that portion of game.

Also, what do you usually research at the beginning of the game ? I always go for armor and I try to get skeleton armor as fast as I can then research weapons, but I'm not sure if it's the best way. What do you guys think ? Loving the game btw ^^.

Then get laser weapons. Somewhere in their fit in sectoid and floater autopsy so you can build those one use stuff for your Interceptors. They will need it to shoot down tougher enemies until you can get laser cannon.

If you kill them first, they can't hurt you

I always skip building carapace armor when possible, couse for me +1 health is just not worth it over +3 move and +10 defense and hook. Cost is so similar and just few more days of research.

Africa only has three nations so you only need three satellite to gain the bonus, while you would need four for Asia or Europe. The flip side is that starting in Africa and put a satellite on the US would get you more money initially. So it depends on whether how fast you want to get the other bonus.

Europe and NA bonus is bad (NA bonus is cool if you play modded version where you can shoot UFO's that do terror/abduction missions), South America bonus as starter is just silly (and i think only 2 countries there anyway). Asia bonus is specific - on normal where you can start researching stuff very early at Officer Quarter its actually ok, but at classic it just won't happen. More cash from Africe leads to faster everything and is just superier to other bonuses. And i can't exactly count on "oh well i will put 3 satelites in Africa asap, more often then not i need to use em to actually manage panic early game.
