Some 6 months ago it came to our attention that Europe's first e-Sports bar took off in Paris, France. After a visit and quite some enjoyable drinks over at Meltdown, we caught up with Sophia "Foxy" Metz to be able to bring some very exciting news to e-Sports and alcohol enthusiasts around Europe.
In our interview with Sophia earlier this year she hinted at a possible "Meltdown 2", a possibility that was always around if the format managed to attract a decent crowd. Now, 6 months later it seems that this prospect has come true. With the Parisian bar filled to the brim and buzzing with e-Sports activities, such as Barcrafts and actual weekly tournaments, the time has come for Meltdown to expand beyond the French borders.

For those with a sharp eye on Meltdown it is probably already known that Meltdown was looking into setting up a similar project in Stockholm, Sweden. Today it is with much rejoice that we can confirm their Stockholm endeavor, as well as announcing the great news that Meltdown is going to expand into Germany and the United Kingdom too.
Despite the exact locations being undisclosed as of yet the cities are known: Stockholm, Berlin and London. Each new Meltdown bar will be bringing along the same format and fun as it has brought in Paris. The venues will be much like any popular sports bar, having multiple screens and/or projectors to bring the latest e-Sports action to the crowds, continuing the main focus of the bar: "to have a place for gamers to drink and watch streams and competitions". With the format also comes an extended series of e-Sports specific drinks such as the Blue Flame Hellion or Spawning Pool.
Added to that however, the new Meltdowns will also be having the characteristic playing PC's incorporated, and these will not only offer free access to play for anyone visiting the bar, but will also be used to play weekly tournaments on. Despite Sophia's active involvement in the StarCraft scene the tournaments will be spread across a bunch of different e-Sports titles, ranging from StarCraft2 to League of Legends and DotA2 to CounterStrike, making it a hub for the local e-Sports scene.
Lastly there is an opportunity for those people out there with a burning passion for and drinking to find their absolute dream job. With the bars not yet fully staffed there is still some openings for bartenders. Most importantly is that you are a gamer, who is actively involved in the e-Sports scene, as well as being available full time. If you are interested and think you fit the bill you can contact Sophia by sending an application e-mail to contact (at) meltdown-paris.com.
